Is anyone else perplexed about this show with it being only opened "seasonally"? What does that mean and why? The only season it should be open is the "closed season". :lmao: Everyone I've ever talked to about this show agrees that it is bad and a waste of time.

This attraction should be permenantly closed and used for something else. Any ideas?

"Seasonal" is often a tag used when they really want to shut it down permanently, but on really busy days when they have excess staff they may operate it to eat up guests. It basically means, "Don't dare to hope this is open..." It also means that they don't have any plans for the space, or cannot move forward with plans at the time.

The major exception to this was Carousel of Progress, which survived what everyone though was the beginning of the end...

Yeah, "open seasonally" is totally the kiss of death. It happened with many other attractions over the years, most notably the entire Wonders of Life pavilion at Epcot.

I'm so glad the Carousel of Progress escaped the claws of "open seasonally"! I would cry if they ever shut it down. It's a classic.

I actually enjoyed the sound effects show (name escapes me) that was there before it. I think they should go back to something in that format. It was different every time, which was part of the appeal.

I agree with you -I enjoyed it as well. But I'm also one of the very rare people that didn't hate Sounds Dangerous -it was a good break on a hot day.

There is a similar attraction in the Animal Kingdom at Rafiki's Planet Watch.

Jeff, I don't think she's talking about the sound booth thing post-show, but the actual attraction that was there when the park first opened. Monster Sound Show. It was a movie with Chevy Chase and Martin Short, and they had a Foley sound effects area on stage.

Random guests were put into sound effects stations to match the short film. Because it's extremely difficult to get the timing right, a lot of guests mis-matched the effects, which made for a funny show.

I miss that and SuperStar Television, but I can understand that both of those attractions would need updates to keep them fresh, had they stayed. (I was lucky enough to be a participant for SuperStar Television. I still miss that show.)

Now that you mention it Lori, I had forgotten that attraction.

Too bad they couldn't have done something around "Who's Line Is It Anyways?" They did a "sound effects" game very similar, and Brad and Colin did it in the tour as well. They would act out a scene, and a guest with microphone would add special effects.

BriarRosie-thanks for figuring that out! I was confused about there being one at Planet Watch. I do enjoy the sound booths, too, though.

I only got to participate in the sound show a couple of times because it had a rather high age limit to participate. Superstar television on the other hand...I bet I was in the show 20 times. I loved doing that. I was usually in Gilligan's Island.

Doc-love that idea!!

I always wanted to participate and never had the chance. It looked like so much fun!

I would have loved a "Whose Line?" attraction, too. But like everything, it gets dated, very fast.

I was chosen to be.....Ethel Mertz. Making candy with Lucy. I wish I could have seen how I looked in the scene. I had to react with something that wasn't there! Due to copyright laws, they couldn't allow taping of that show. I could imagine the killing they could have made selling tapes to the participants, if they had worked out the royalties, of course.

I think Whose Line was a victim of ABC burning their audience out on Drew by putting him on 4-5 times a week, along with putting the show up against Friends. It could have made for a great improv attraction, or at least a good recorded attraction.

I still find the episodes funny. Even the original.
