Just got back from a great 2 week trip. I am trying to muster the energy for a trip report.

SPOILER FOR THOSE THAT HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SOUNDS DANGEROUS: I just have to get this off of my chest. We did Sounds Dangerous for the first time. Did I miss something? This was the biggest waste of time and just not fun. I guess the point is that they are trying to make you experience the movie only through sound effects. We sat there in the dark for about 10 minutes listening to a really bad movie. And then it was over!!! I kept waiting for the rest. I thought they would show you how they created the sounds on a sound stage. But nothing. I am sorry if there are any SD fans that I am offending. But I really struggled to find a reason why Disney has this attraction. Isn't there some better way to use the space?

Please tell me what I missed.

I wasn't impressed either. My DH and I had more fun in the area outside the "theater" where you went in little booths and listened to stuff or did fun stuff at the kiosks like put your voice to a snippet of movie. But the "main show" wasn't something I want to do again, though it was a little restful (and a little wet - ick!).

Hope you still had a wonderful 2 weeks! :sunny:

You didn't miss anything! I sooooooooooooo miss the old Monster Sound Show that used to be in that venue - it was a classic, hugely funny and a great attraction. We haven't been back to Sounds Dangerous since it first opened.

You know, I have never gone to this attraction in the 4 trips that we have made to MGM. It just Sounds Lame to me. I considered going this time, just to try it since we haven't done it yet. Maybe I will reconsider that idea. lol Maggie

Hey!!! Wait just a minute there folks...

My DH and I LOVE, i mean LOVE this attraction...

...we get some of our best napping time done in there (while in A.C.) :rotfl2:

it is great for a quick nap time re-charge.

:rotfl: :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao:

We went the last trip, and I liked it. I thought it was interesting how they moved the sound around. I never saw what was there prior, I guess MGM isn't my favorite park so we only hit the big rides.

sounds like i can check this off the list! :listen:

But it is a wonderfully relaxing cool place on a hot day

They overestimated the appeal of Drew Carey. If your headphones aren't working properly you lose the experience completely which is what happened to us the one and only time we entered this attraction. But, as someone else mentioned, the good news is the AC always works really well on the hot days we are known for down here. :woohoo:

Yes, if you hear what people say, it would be less DANGEROUS if you listen to the SOUNDS of groaning from others and dump Drew from the list.

ok ... I am being too lame ... must need more coffee. :teeth:

Glad it just wasn't me. I am the type that usually tries to find good in all-things-Disney. For example, IASW is not my cup of tea. But it is easy to see why some people love it. But SD had no redeeming features unless you are a huge Drew Carey fan, or looking for a cool spot to rest as some have said. :rotfl:

Got to be the most ridiculous attraction ( ? ?) ever ? Unless like others have mentioned you want a nice cool place to nap for awhile -

I could not wait to get out of there ~

Thanks for the warning, folks. I have not "experienced" this and most likely will pass this one by. :thumbsup2

well, I'm a big fan of it... thank you. I really loved it. :thumbsup2

I love this attraction. It's a nice dark cool way to breakup the day.

It sounds like part of the problem for the OP was ideas of what they "thought it would be"

Ditto. We liked it as well.

Also the sound booths at the exit were fun. :stir:

Well, I guess I will wade in here one more time in defense of "Sounds Dangerous".

For all you "youngsters" that always had the idiot box to watch I can understand why you don't find "Sounds" very appealing. Old fuddy duddy's like myself remember when we used to spend free time listening to the radio for our entertainment. Many great shows started on radio. Shows like Superman, Green Hornet and the Lone Ranger were radio programs. You listened to it and painted the scene with your imagination. No set designers or builders in the world could duplicate what your imagination could picture. No need for anything except vocal descriptions and minimal ones at that.

I, like the rest of you, don't like to work hard for my entertainment so I have become a visual person as well, but I sure can appreciate that attraction for what it is. An entertaining (if you're not to busy complaining about the lack of a picture) mind exercising re-introduction to yesterdays technology.

I can even imagine what the conference room at Disney must have been like when, whatever brave person it was, suggested that they do a no picture, in your face, example of sound effects and how they actually make the story. They must have laughed for days about it. Credits to them for taking a chance and trying it out. A whole lot of us are regular visitors to that attraction because of its uniqueness and fun.
