My DD is 2 and has slept with a sound machine since she was a just a few months old. Her sound machine is bigger than I would like to tote with us to DW. Any suggestions on good portable sound machines for toddlers? We need one that has white noise as a sound option. TIA!

Do you have a smart phone? IF so download an white noise machine app and then turn your phone on Do Not Disturb. That way it'll play the white noise all night but no text message, email, or call alerts will come through (you can set it that if the same person calls multiple times within a set amount of time it ignores DND because it marks it as an emergency call). I did this one trip where I forgot earplugs because we have a snorer in our group and I need a more relaxing noise to focus on then the snoring if I don't have earplugs. I can't remember what app I used but know I just kept the phone on the charger all night with the white noise running.

Thank you! This is great advice!!

We might have a snorer with us next trip and I am a very light sleeper - thanks for the great idea!

I wouldn't suggest it for little ones but I have been able to get to sleep and stay asleep with a white noise app and my wireless blutooth headphones. Of course if you aren't comfortable with headphones in then it'll still be hard to sleep. I only did that when the white noise alone wasn't enough haha.

We use the Marpac Zohne portable sound conditioner (machine) when we travel. It's about $75 on Amazon. Not cheap, but it is very light weight, and has dual voltage for international use. I've used the same on for years on multiple trips. I found that the white noise sound machine app was okay, but just not loud enough for me.

I tried my smart phone and didn't like it nearly as much as my small Homedics unit. I use it for me to block out hotel noise!

We also use the Homedics SoundSpa at home and when we travel for my youngest. I like that you can use it with batteries or just plug it in.

We use the Dohme. It is a little bulky but use it at home and it always does the trick.

I highly recommend the mini Sleep Sheep. Both my kids have used them off and on since birth.

I hated the sleep sheep! I swear that thing contributed to our major sleep issues. Every time the timer made it turn off, it woke my kid up. The batteries seemed to die all the time, again waking my kid up. I loved that it was portable, but not.worth.it. Funny how it's so different for everyone!

Really?? I think I've only replaced the batteries once in nine years! I liked the auto shut-off, but we always kept the volume extremely low.

Maybe ours was defective? I don't know. But most annoying baby thing ever for us. I also had terrible sleepers, so I'm sure my feelings about all of that are all rolled up together!
