Every time a couple has a child, another soul blesses the earth with it's presence.

If we were to create a clone, would that clone have a soul? We'd be creating the body too, just in a different way.

I'm stuck on this one.

When we create a test tube baby it has a soul.

What do you think about identical twins? They share DNA and are formed from a single sperm/single ova before splitting. Would you agree that each twin has an independent "soul" and identity? How is that different genetically from a clone?

I don't believe in souls. I guess for someone who does the answer depends on where you think souls come from. I mean, I suppose someone could hold that cloning is against God's law and therefore God wouldn't give a cloned person a soul. But hey, premarital sex is also supposedly against God's law and no one suggests that all babies conceived out of wedlock are soul-less. And like another poster said, identical twins are clones, genetically speaking. So I really don't see anything about the moral status of cloning or the biological details that would make someone think a clone wouldn't have a soul.

I did once have an argument with a friend about whether a clone would have a "personality/personal identity." I said of course; she said no. Turned out she was just being difficult for the fun of it.
