I had to do some shuffling of points awhile back and now need some guidance.

March Use Year
2010-135 points
2011-18 points

My guess is we will not be traveling until April 2012

Do I bank all the points or just 2010...will I be able to use 2010 points in 2012. I am so confused at this point.

Your March 2010 points are valid thru February 28, 2011. If they are banked they may be used for stays from March 1, 2011 thru February 29, 2012. The 2011 points have the same date restrictions except that they would be valid for stays thru February 28, 2013 if banked in a timely fashion.

It sounds as though you have borrowed points from your 2011 Use Year for stays prior to March, 2011? If so, the above answer is accurate. However, if your remaining 2011 points are being used for reservations after March 1, 2011 - I'd have MS bank the remaining 2010 points and then have them substitute the banked points for the 2011 points used - freeing up another 135 points in your 2011 Use Year. Unless the 2011 points have been borrowed in 2010, you should have an option to your benefit.

Unfortunately, the 2010 UY points can not be used for an April 2012 vacation. 2010 UY points can only be used for travel during your 2010 UY, or if banked, during your 2011 UY. Since your April 2012 trip will take place in your 2012 UY, those points would no longer be valid.

You can certainly bank the 2011 UY points (18) into the 2012 UY and have those available for the trip.

Doc has a great overview of possible actions. However before I can make a suggestion, I need to know if the available points are from the stated UY or have they been banked/borrowed already? Also, why are there only 18 points left in 2011 (did you move them somewher already)?
