How do you sort your random paper? Right now I have it by color but I am thinking of changing it as I don't remember what I have. I have the rest sorted by theme (beach, disney, seasons). Should I sort my random by hearts, balloons, stripes etc, leave it by color, any other ideas?

Thanks

My paper, if you would even call it oganized, is sorted by color or theme. If it is a patterned paper then I try to put it in with what ever the predominant color is. If it came in a stack like a DCWV then I keep the stack together.

Pretty much the same here.
I keep stacks together until there is too little of it left.
I sort by theme first, so I have a spot for Christmas, Halloween, Disney (broken down further into Mickey, Pooh, Princess, general, other)birthday, nature (i.e grass, sand clouds), school, sports, other holidays, other themed paper (like popcorn paper, m&m, lego etc). Anything that can't fit into a theme and isn't a part of a line I want to keep together (like DCWV stack, basic grey line etc) gets sorted by the predominant color. Except, I think I have a spot that is for bright multi-colored papers.

Last -- I have stopped buying paper just because I like it. Why? It is too hard to keep organized and once I put it away I forget I have it. So I very rarely buy indiviual sheets unless I have a specific project in mind that I plan to work on rather soon. The big exception to this is Halloween papers which I can't seem to resist, anything dinosaur for DS6, and DCVW stacks which I just like to buy.

Thanks, I have most sorted by theme but these are just random. I think I will keep them in colors. I have 3 cropper hoppers of Disney and 2 of beach/summer paper. I have way to much but can't resist buying more.

I just finished sorting all my papers a few days ago. I did some by manufactur(those that i had a lot of). Then I sorted by stars, stripes, circles, plaids, squares, boy stuff, christmas and the other holidays. And then for the few themes that i only had a couple of papers of i combined all into one catagory... misc. themes. I do have some just by color only that have a very simple pattern on it(these are the papers from about 8-10 years ago when I started scrapping and not much else of pattern paper was out yet). Yes I am ashamed to admit I have paper that old. Tells you I am waaaaayyyyy behind on the scrapping. Plus I would by like 8-10 sheets of the same thing back thing(way stupid).

I have done the same thing. I have bought so many paper just because they were cute and then I have totally forgotten about them and ended up buying more paper for something I was working on at the time. Now I am trying not to buy any paper at all. I've been really trying to jsut use what I have. I'm sure I'll never run out of paper!!

If you want to pair down more go through the paper quickly and put in a pile of the first thing that comes to mind. Like hearts, when you see the paper do you automatically see red, white, pink, valentines, girly. Etc. Stripes, what are the colors, summer, spring, halloween, etc.
Then what is left over goes into the random pile.

I sort cardstock by color and patterned paper by manufacture/line.
