i'm not really sure where to post this and everyone here always has really good ideas so i figured this would be the best place..

We are going down to Orlando to visit my sister the first week in November..I'ts going to be me, my mother, my daughter who will be 7 then and my son who will be 14 months..Originally we had just figured we would double up in the beds but thinking about it more I'm wondering if i should get a pack n play for my son..He and I went to Mexico for a month and when we were there he was still in an infant carseat so he slept in that..This time for FL he's in a bigger carseat so that's not an option for us..and he's always been in a crib..he moved around quiet a big during his sleep and i'm afraid he might call outta bed or that he'd get hurt..i wouldn't roll over him, i'm a very tiny person and I don't move at all during my sleep..i'm just wondering what other ppl have done with a 14 month old..We would have to rent one since my sister does not have one nor is she willing to buy one, she refuses to have anything baby in her house until we actually get there..I know a babies best friend rents them but does anyone else?? thanks for the help and advice!

I would wait until the time gets closer and then buy one off Craigslist. When you're through with it, you could ask sis to resell or donate to charity.

Do you have a pack and play that you can take with you? We brought one with us one year and checked it as luggage. I know that there are a lot of luggage restrictions, but it might be cheaper than buying or renting one there. If not, I wouldn't think twice about having him sleep in the bed with you. We did that for many trips with our twins when they were little. You'll wake up before he crawls out of bed. I guess it is possible, but unlikely he could roll out of bed. If anything, I'll bet he will cuddle close to your side of the bed rather than the edge.

no we don't own a pack n play..and i really dont know if i feel comfy with him sleeping with me since he moves around so much, that's how he gets comfortable..any other ideas?? I might look at Craigslist closer to the time we leave..thanks

My son is 13 months and fell out of bed at the hotel a couple of weeks ago. He moves around a lot at night and wanted nothing to do with cuddling! If you had the bed against a wall and you were on the outside, that would probably work ok. You can buy a basic pack n play for around $40 at Walmart - it might be cheaper than renting.

I'd ask my sister to go buy an inexpensive pack 'n play at Walmart just before we arrived, like pp said. Or alternately you choose it, pay for it and then have it shipped 'site to store' near her and just ask her to pick it up. What's up with her not wanting things there before you arrive? That's just weird and a little obnoxious since I'm assuming she DOES want you to visit, wouldn't kill her to be a little helpful. You can tell her I said so. :rotfl:

No kidding - tell her I said so too!!

Anyway - you could buy a travel bed for him. This is a link to one on ebay - it is inflatable - you could carry it with your or ship it right to your sister - since it is little hopefully she would be okay with the box being in her house!

Thanks everyone

Yea My sister is being a lil bullheaded about all this but it's only because the only way I'd let my 7year old go is if I came with so she really didn't want me there in the first place..she lives with her boyfriend and one other roommate and none of them are even thinking of kids yet..I'll have to look online at craigslist because I really can't afford to spend $40 on something we won't use again..We're only going because we got really dirt cheap airline tickets and my sisters boyfriend is a CM at Disney so we're getting into everything for FREE..and we're on a tight budget..thanks again!

or how about checking around at some yard sales for one? Sometimes they are considerably cheaper than Craigslist.
If you could find one cheap enough, you could even leave it there to be donated. Just a thought....
Good Luck and have a great trip. :goodvibes

BUT THE way I see it...why would she even think you would send a 7 yo to stay with her and a boyfriend and roommate alone? You don't know those people that well...just because you live with them, means nothing..there are freaks in this world. Buy a pack and play at a yd sale..you can find nice ones cheap. I sold mine at a yard sale last summer for a whopping $8. Only used twice (I had 2 of them.) We use the other one when we are on vacation for the little one. She slept exclusively in a crib, but with her toy and woobie, she slept just fine in the playpen. HTH

PS
Kick your sister for me! LOL

I would look for a pack n play at a yard sale but then i'd have another thing to bring with..We're not bringing a stroller to the airport since we are participating in a stroller swap for the length of our stay..We already have so much to bring with us (2 large suitcases with clothes, 1 with gifts, 1 with food, baby's carseat, at least 2 carryons) and as it is i'm worried my sister won't have enough room in her car, she only has a colbalt..maybe I should ask her to rent a van lol..
