Just wanted to warm those that are renting a car from the Orlando Airport about this gas station.....
It's no secret gas prices are sky high and still climbing.
Now, an Orlando service station is making national headlines, for having the highest prices in the country.
The Suncoast Energys station, on South Semoran Boulevard near the airport, is charging $5.69 for a gallon of regular unleaded.
Tourist Deanna Price said she paid $70 for a half tank.
"It was ridiculous. We are not paying that much in Texas. I wish I would've looked around a little more before I filled up," Price said.
Many have complained for years about the station.
Critics argue it's taking advantage of tourists returning their rental cars to the airport.
There's no sign out front advertising those prices. They're only posted on the pump.
Price's focus was on getting her rental back on time and making her flight.
"I didn't realize that until we started pumping," Price said. "I wasn't paying attention."
The city of Orlando passed an ordinance to protect tourists from being taken advantage of.
Lawmakers now require stations to post prices on a sign, visible from the street.
Suncoast Energys has until May 12th to comply or face hundreds of dollars in fines a day.
