OK, so this Easter trip was originally set up for Thanksgiving 2010 and that one was canceled - the reason being my Dad. My Dad is almost 93 and he lives north of St. Pete Beach. The plan has always been to visit with him for a few days and then go & stay at RPR to go to the parks.

Last Nov., my Mom had just died and my Dad told us to postponed the trip down since I had been down there in Oct. to get Mom's ashes. So my DH & I thought that Easter would be perfect to go down to visit....

The fates are thinking otherwise......I got a call from my Dad yesterday saying that he was in the hospital, that he had to take it easy, & he keeps repeating "honey, I'm at the end of my life" :( which, of course, we've known but I also think that he's depressed. My DDs are hysterical because they want to their only surviving grandparent NOW-they don't know about the side trip we are planning, the think that we're going to Busch Gardens not to Universal, but at the same time I just don't feel right going down there with all of us in his condo, even if it's a nice size.....

Thanks for letting me rant....

Sorry to hear about your father but don't worry about the trip. There are more important things to deal with right now.

So sorry to hear about your Dad. US/IOA will always be there for another trip. I would go and just visit with my dad now. I'm sure he'd enjoy spending the time with you and your family.

I hope that he is depressed and maybe once he feels better he'll be in better spirits. The poor guy.

I agree that Universal will always be there. I know that this is all so worrisome for you.

Hope your Dad perks up!
Mine at that age has gone from all ends of the spectrum to now deciding he's shooting for 100, maybe even 110.
As everyone says Universal will be there and sounds like your kids want to see him.

God Bless!:grouphug:

Hope he perks up a bit. My dad is only 57 and he keeps saying stuff like that. Really weirding the whole family out. Like said before the theme parks aren't going anywhere anytime soon and it's probably best to see your dad right now.

Maybe a nice May or September trip is in order. The parks are calm and the weather is amazing then.

Hope for the best for your family.

so sad to hear of your news about mom and now dad..

dad comes first.

you can always hit the parks.

 Put your side trip off and stay with your Dad for the entire trip. You have one Dad, and your children have only one Grandfather left.. let them make memories with him.. You guys have the rest of your lives to make memories in the theme parks... my thoughts go out to you and your family
