HEY! I didn't realize it was in rank order. I'd like like to congratulate my worthy opponents on running a fine campaign. They campaigned hard and it was a tough battle. I hope you are all proud of the effort you put in, because you should be. The voters turned out in record numbers and delivered an historic victory. I feel humbled by the trust you have put in me to lead this thread in helping people "get past this". There's an old saying: do not pray for tasks equal to your powers, but pray for powers equal to your tasks. Reaching our goals of helping the Kerry supporters "get past this" will require the broad support of all Disboard members, so today I want to speak to every person who voted for my opponents. To make this thread stronger and better, I will need your support and I will work to earn it. I will do all I can do to deserve your trust.

I don't care who posted on this, it was more for myself than anyone else. You can tease me or even yell at me, it's only the internet, it doesn't bother me!!
I feel better today, things much more in perspective. (had talk with my dad, who's more republican than democrat by the way. none of us have ever really put ourselves into either party)

How do I get past this? How can I feel I'm being spoken for or represented in this country? This is one of the worst days I can remember.....
When I heard Kerry was going to concceed--as elated as I was that Bush did win the election--I felt so terrible--b/c Kerry supporters did put so much into it, and at one point had complete faith that it was going to be victory--to find that that was just not the case. I could have cried over how everyone must feel. B/c I would have felt the same way if Bush lost.
I suggest:
#1 if any of your Congresspersons or Senators are aligned with your views--and volunteer for them, speak to them, write them--tell them how you feel and find out what they are going to do in their next term with Bush. Find out what you can do to help them accomplish their goals.
#2 Get involved with your Democratic Party in your area--perhaps even right now--I am sure that some of your community neighbors are in the same boat. From what little I have heard--the Democrats aren't going to sleep on this one until they have one of their own sworn in on 01/20/08.
#3 Run for Office--seriously--see if there are some things locally that you might be able to do to serve your community. Sometimes when you have your own thing to strive for--it helps you feel like you are making a difference. I don't work, but I do what I can to help other people so that I know I do something that will make a difference. Running for Office be it a zoning board, school board, city council--whatever--may be what you need to really FEEL that you are doing something. Who knows, maybe you'll be in Congress someday
#4 If you find that your sadness or lost feeling isn't going away--Seek counseling. They have to be impartial and they can help you work through the feelings you are experiencing. Especially if your mental thoughts on this are being experienced phsyiologically.

The one really nice thing about this election and its relation to the DIS boards is it has separated those with class from those who have none.

I say dmadman43 won this election because he sold his soul to the pharmaceutical companies, all his rich friends who make over $200k/year, the gun lobby and the Saudi Royal Family. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if he secretly contacted the suicide bomb-poster ahead of time and TOLD her to say that, just so he could top that list. Yep, once again dmadman mislead us.
