Can I ask all you 'teens' a question?

My two DDs (11 and 12) have never been abroad or even on holiday. My DH and I want to take them to WDW next year but, in order to do it, they will have to have slightly less spent on them for Christmas than they would normally get.

We plan to book for October next year and tell them Christmas day (as a surprise). Would you be happy to have lees presents if you were being surprised with a trip? Obviously, they will still get gifts - just not as expensive.

Would very much appreciate your opinions.

Also, can any of you think of a cool way to tell them - a gift or something that we could give which will let them know where we're going?

personally, i would love to go to Disney rather than get presents. my cousin went like around Christmas one year as a surprise. i dont remember how my aunt told her though, sorry.

disney in itself is a present!
a cool way to tell them would be to get something from the disney store (or online) like mickey or something and have him hold a note that says when you're going to WDW.
also, (but your girls might be too old for this) you could use the same idea with mickey, but have a "treasure hunt" to find him. for instance, make up a bunch of clues written on paper and hide them around the house. start with clue #1, which should lead to clue#2 and so on. the "treasure" would be the mickey (or what ever you want to use)!
hope this helps! :)

That is what my parents do when we go to wdw. I love going on trips and don't care whether or not I get presents if we are going on a major trip.

well it would actually depend if they like WDW or not
if they were as obsessed as me, I would LOVE to go instead of getting presents. but that's just my opinion

I'd love to get a shirt that said something along the lines of "got disney?" or something clever like that

gez I wish my parents would get me a Disney trip for Christmas ;)

I would love to go to Disney as a present. A cool way to tell them would be to give them in a couple of different presents things like autograph books and other Disney things and then tell them that they can use those things when you go on your trip. Please let us know how you decide to tell them and how exited they are. It's always fun to hear that you're going to Disney.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I really like the idea of a treasure hunt - we used to do that for them all the time when they were younger and it's one of the things they remember.

I think they would be really excited at the prospect of going to Disney so I don't think they will mind too much not getting lots of other presents - the youngest is a massive Eeyore fan so I could get her an Eeyore or something.

I will certainly let you all know how we get on and how we tell them.

Thanks again

Joh

If it were me I would much rather get to go on a trip to WDW then get more presents!!!! I think that is a great idea!

:paw:

I think thats a great idea. You could buy their tickets and put them in a big box, then have a camera ready for when they open it.

I'm sure they'll love it. I know I would!! What a surprise! :earseek:
Also to surprise them on Christmas morning I would in a disney planning video or something. See if they figure it out! And a little into it I would give them each a box with the "you're going to WDW" Mickey.

....disney is deffinitley a wonderful present to give to any child. i think theyd love you even more for it XD.

for how to give them to them idea: hmm...maybe give them a final present, a small box, like for jewlery and inside is a folden piece of paper that says: "what do you get when you mix 4 lands, and a whole lot of pure magic?" or..something more creative, and when they look at you like your nuts show them the information and pop in that planning video. ^_~

i was going to say a treasure hunt too, but daisymae26 beat me to it :p

It's a hit or miss. Personally, I would love it. I think the trip is a gift itself actually.
