So on Mother's Day, I think we will be renting a car to go see the ocean.

Now I am thinking I also want to go to the Disney Soda Fountain Shop. How long will it take me to get there? Is it worth the trip? Does anyone have any pictures?

As long as we're in the area for the day, are there any cheap, fun, fast things to do?

I would think it would depend on what beach you went to. The Disney Fountain Shop (if it is the one I think you are thinking of) is in Hollywood right across the street from the Chinese Theater. The closest beach would be Santa Monica. There is a pier there and a boardwalk and the 3rd Street Promenade is close by.
