We just came back from a truly magical stay & are really considering becoming DVC members. Some questions:

Does it matter when your month is? And if so why?

Should I purchase before or after SSR is open? Will they offer an incentive before it opens?

And I hope I do not start something with this question, but the search is disabled, & I went back 10 pages & didn't see an answer. Do the DVC resorts offer refillable mugs?(I am ducking now just incase this is a problem topic like it is at the resorts boards)

The resorts do offer the refillable mugs.
Glad to hear you are considering DVC.It was the best thing we have done.we are very happy with our decision.the feeling of inviting people that otherwise would not be able to go is the best feeling in the world.we have done this twice, taking family that would not be able to afford to go.

Use year/month is just when your annual allotment of points is renewed. It also determines your banking deadlines. If you regularly have to cancel/delay/postpone/change your vacation dates, use year can be important to you (because of banking deadlines). For example, if you usually travel in July and have to cancel, a February use year would allow you to bank the points from that cancelled vacation. An August use year would not. Cancellation rules and banking rules can be a little confusing at first. Don't be afraid to ask specific questions if you want a more detailed explanation. For now, just be aware that use year only matters if you have to cancel a vacation (which hopefully will not happen to you very often, if at all).

The most important thing to consider is your choice of home resort. Buy the resort where you think you will want to stay most often. In some cases, that means buying a resale. No one knows for sure if there will be incentives or a price increase for SSR. My best guess is yes to both. The "incentive" (again IMHO), will most likely be some variation of the current Magical Beginnings program.

Yes, they do. FWIW, refillable mugs aren't all that controversial here on the DVC Forum - we have our own "hot buttons"/forbidden subjects, LOL. The mugs aren't as as popular at the DVC resorts as they seem to be at the non-DVC resorts. DVC accomodations all have refrigerators and coffee makers and most members find it more economical and convenient to use the coffee makers and stock the frig with their favorite drinks. IMHO, the refill places at the DVC resorts aren't especially convenient or as plentiful as they are at some of the non-DVC resorts.

HTH. Welcome to the DVC Forum. Questions are wecolmed here. Good luck with your decision-making process.

Ok,I know VWL offer a mug thru WL, refillable at Roaring Forks and I know VB has one. But I don't recall a program for OKW,BCV or BWV. Do they exist ?

I believe for BWV you can get them at the Boardwalk Bakery. Never done it, though. DH brought his own coffee, and I just bought a 6-pack of water at Wal-Mart. (I don't drink coffee or carbonated beverages, so the mug would never do me any good.)

And I just checked the menu at wdwig.com, and OKW has them at Goods to Go.

It didn't matter to me when I bought in but after reading here it seems like you would want to have a use year as soon before your normal trip time as possible due to the banking deadlines. If you normally tracel in say June as I'm fixing to, my March use year gives me plenty of time to bank all points if I have to cancel. If you were going in June and had an August use year, you couldn't bank your points.

Yes, they do. I've personally seen them at the Boardwalk Bakery and according to WDWIG, they also exist at the others.

Refillable Mugs

I think WDWIG's info for OKW is out of date, though. (Not positive, but I think the program recently changed and the refills are now free there, as well).

Got one on May 4 at BW bakery for $10.64 and used it at 6:30 am every morning for my walk around the Boardwalk and got a refill when I got back around to the bakery. A cup of coffee itself costs $1.99. I used it at least 8 times during our stay.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I bought one last Sunday at BC at the cafe next to Cape May, don't remember the name, same price though, $10.64
