Sorry folks I just have to get this off my chest Virgin are charging £28 per day for the DDP-When I checked the official site they are only charging £21.99 per day-think of the mark up that Virgin are making on this if the average Brit goes for 10 days! Before you all start flaming me I know they are in the business to make a profit etc but this is just greed.

I know how you feel.We only went november with them and it was £21 per adult and £6 for a child.It has gone up to £28 per adult and £9 per child.The broschure staed £19 for a child but they said it was a misprint!!.Most other tour operators are charging around the £21-22 mark but virgin are pushing the boat out a bit.I think there is so much compatition out there they are struggling a bit.Did you book it anyway?

No I didn't-if it had been £21 I would have considered it, but I'm not sure we would really eat that much-its my DBf's first time in America and I don't think he has any real concept of the size of the portions. I will however keep an eye on the amount we do spend on food, then if it would have worked out better, well, we'll just have to go back again to check it out...(Bless him, he thinks if he comes once, that will be it....)

Last year we flew BA and they charged £23 per head which I thought was reasonable. Virgin were charging £26 per head. This year Virgin are charging £26 per head which I initially booked through them. However, Staying at SSR I was able to book direct at £20 a head saving me £180 over the 10 days (well worth the Virgin £75 to change our booking). I did notice that Virgin have put up their price to £28, however I read somewhere that Disney are raising the price of DDP next year, so it looks like Virgin are upping their prices to compensate. One thing I always did notice is that Virgin do appear the be the most expensive supplier of DDP by a long margin.

Virgin, really are slipping in my view. But I'll still book with them as their return flight times are nice and late with DownTown check in give you an effective extra day. And they are the only airline (I know) who let you book an extra day or so to your two week break. Virgin are getting more expensive overall...

Looking at booking things seperately? You don't have to book with "Virgin Holidays" to get Virgin flights...

Book a fly-drive with Virgin Holidays or flights with Virgin Atlantic (either booking with Virgin Atlantic direct, with Expedia, Airline Network, Opodo etc). Then book accomodation (with DDP) with either Disney directly or with Dreams Unlimited.

If you don't like the prices that Virgin Holiday charge, then vote with your feet and either buy from another package operator or book independently...

I found this to my cost last year, when I saw what virgin were really charging for DDP compared to disney I cancelled, paid my £25 amendment fee per person and still saved money The only reason I'm flying with them in December is the brilliant miles plus money prices I am getting, but never again will I just automatically book virgin, I will be a more savvy shopper in future,

We nearly booked the Disney cruise with Virgin, for oct 06.... then we SAVED over £895 !!!! yipe almost £900 for 3 of us, we booked with Dreams unlimited, the same cruise, saved a ton of money, and had a great time !

Virgin are pricing themselves out of our holidays!

Yes we booked seperatley-flights with VA and used miles plus money and booked accom DDP and tickets with virgin. Only because I have FF 10 discount and £400 vouchers which we were given as they made mistakes with our wedding booking.Disney next year even with the 10% discount virgin offer are still cheaper than booking with virgin direct-so it looks like the last time I will be using them unless they have a rethink to there prices. -but I don't see that happening.

And yet they won't let us pay to add DDP to our booking for our 9 nights at AKL 'cos we've also booked 2 nights RPR and 5 nights HI-I Drive....all thru Virgin! You apparently can't have DDP for a multi-stay holiday, so they don't want our money that badly

The strange thing is, even with the dining plan being so expensive with Virgin, booking through them with the 10% Flying Club discount and good resort price, the package for POFQ, 7 day tickets and Dining Plan comes out almost £85 less than the identical package with Disney UK site. Strange!

We went with with Virgin back in 2001 and I couldn't sing their praises highly enough. This time around I've had nothing but grief, they've misinformed me with regards to prebooking seats, many times given me the incorrect locator ref for our flight details, changed our flight times without informing us. I could go on and on. Their customer services has really gone to the dogs.
I agree with you though Soprano, due to the great VA flight times and the fantastic DTD check in, no doubt we will use them again.
I do think as is usual in a situation when you get a reputation for being the biggest and best (in their case carrier to Orlando) at something, one does tend to rest on those laurels! I personally think they've taken their eye off the ball.

I think they're putting all their service and effort into their new routes and forgetting their tried and tested market, the family market doesn't seem to be worth as much to them these days as the tourers in s.africa, australia, dubai, far east etc
