...but I've been discouraged.

Ever since Lent began I have been walking AT LEAST 7 miles a week...wait a minute...actually it's been at least more than 10 miles every week. For instance, yesterday I walked 3+ miles. I've been lifting weights at least every other day and now am up to 5 pounders to the point of exhaustion. I've been doing leg exercise, every other day to muscle exhaustion. I've given up potato chips, pizza and alcohol except on Sundays.

And I weigh *more*!?! Ugh.

So I'll keep up the exercise, thought it might be I wasn't eating enough protein and my body thought I was starving, so am eating small meals more often...

anyway, haven't been checking in for the Challenges and sending in my weight. It's just too depressing. I'd rather just keep up the greatly increased exercise and watching what I am eating.

Anyway, just because I haven't been checking in doesn't mean I haven't been around :teeth:.

Agnes, I am sorry you are going through this. You are not alone. I'm glad you've come here to post and visit with your WISH friends. Sometimes it takes a bit for things to get going. Have you been logging your calories on either Sparkpeople or Fitday? I highly recommend that you find a sight such as these to help you keep track of what you are doing. It may open a door for you.

Maybe you are experiencing the change of fat for muscle. You won't see a weight loss, but your body sure will be happy with this. Seems like what you are going to try with the protein may be a good idea.

Please don't be down over it. Come here to post on the threads and share your frustration. We are here for you and many of us go through these down times.

It will happen. Look for that healthy lifestyle and better choices and activity. You are doing yourself a favor that way. Try not to use the D word and see if your attitude is feeling a little better.

You are doing this. You CAN do this!

Thanks for the kind words. It's just that scale...it gets me blue, y'know? Every morning I get on it and there's either no change or a tiny bit less or a tiny bit more. I've been working REALLY hard and it feels like I have nothing to show for it. I'm more active now that I have been in *years*! I thought the weight would have dropped off, well, maybe not exactly quickly, but at least drop off!
I *am* taking up less space these days, but I'd also really like to weigh less while doing so.

Phooey.

Hang in there. It sounds like you are making healthy changes that will be around for good, and the scale will follow in time. I would agree with pp that it sounds like you are definitely building muscle and that does weigh more. It sounds like you are feeling a change in your clothes.

I am in a bit of the same boat. I've been exercising 6 days/week , and doing weight watchers since jan 1st, and I thought I would see more of a change on the scale than I have. I've only lost 6 pounds, but I have noticed my clothes fitting better, and feel healthier, so I'm trying real hard not to obsess about the scale, but it's not easy.

You are doing the right things. Keep up the great work, and try not to give that scale too much weight in the whole scheme of good health. You can do it!!:cool1:
