We have one slot that needs to be filled for the 2nd Circle Journal group. We thought it was filled, but the person seems to have backed out.

Can we interest someone in joining us? Please? :bounce: :bounce:

We'd like to have 12 people. They'll be due out by August 1st.

Please let me know if you are interested!

ETA: We've filled the slot now.

aw well - better to have found out now that we have a flaker NOW rather than 6 months into it after we have put our everything into the journals!

Someone will want to do it - since they are sooo much fun and a great place to try new techniques, and looks!

I'm still a newbie...what is a circle journal?

I have to run out, but will be back around 9pm tonight if you have more questions. Think about it! It's a good way to get to know other people here on the board. ::yes::

What is it? The short version: Twelve people sign up with Disney related themes & send them to each other to put pictures related to each person's theme in a 2 page LO that you create specifically for that album/theme.

For a better explanation of Circle Journals, see:
http://www.scrapjazz.com/community/...ead.php?t=47169
For theme ideas, see page 1 of this thread:

For samples of CJ's check here:

Let me see if I understand this...
Person 1 sends a scrapbook with an intro and scrapping type directions to person 2.
Person 2 sends a scrapbook with an intro and scrapping type directions to person 3.
Person 2 sends Person 1's book to Person 3 after adding their pages.

Is this correct?
I think I might like to do this if I understand what is involved.
Do you put the same thing in everyone's book? (of course modified for the bumpy/non-bumpy style folks)

you sorta get it!
But each persons book is different!
You will always be recieving and sending to the same person - but the books from each person have a different 'theme' (although all general Disney)
If you look through the other DIS CJ thread you will see the themes chosen!

We've filled the slot so this one is closed again - Sandy22 will be joining us. My apologies to those of you who inquired but didn't get the slot. I went with the person whose post/PM was time stamped the earliest.

Thanks for thinking about joining us.

(I edited to add the title that I found some examples and now I understand - still don't know why it took so long - I think I was trying to make it more complicated than it was.)

No problem - I am still trying to figure this out. Maybe it is just the wording or maybe my brain is being uncooperative today (it does this sometimes and won't snap out of it until threatened:rotfl: )

But each persons book is different!

So each person picks a theme for their book and when each person gets it they decorate their pages in that theme?

I am going to the thread suggested and see if I can figure this out. I went to a web site someone suggested a while back but I still didn't really get it. I don't know why I am having such trouble wrapping my mind around this one.

Well, I haven't done one before but this is what I'm doing....and I expect someone will set me straight if I'm wrong. ;)

There are 12 people in the group. Each person selects their own theme & book size. They also decide if there are any special instructions for their book - aimed at the people who will be working in the book: such as nothing lumpy, DO include a picture of yourself, please use only pastel colors, etc, etc. You don't need special instructions, but you can have them as desired...and they can be inclusive or restrictive (do or do not use xxxxx)

Each person needs to create a page or two for those instructions & a page or two for sign ins. Most people alter the cover of the album they've selected - to go with their theme. People using a spiral bound album tend to remove the wire & replace with something like ribbons.

The host sets the "circle" - the order the books will move from person to person. If you were doing a CJ, you might be requested to send to someone in FL. Every month you would finish the book you received in the mail & send on to the person in FL. You may be getting from someone in MS. Every month you receive from MS & send the one you've finished to FL. At the end of the year, you will have worked on 12 books & forwarded them.

When you receive a book you read through the special instructions & create a 2pg (or 4pg but always an even number) LO using the theme they've selected - THEIR theme with YOUR response and YOUR pictures. For example, if the 1st book you get has the theme "my favorite WDW restaurant" you'd create a LO about the character meal at 1900 Park Fare (if that's what you enjoyed most) and include pictures of yourself either at the meal or in some way related to that theme. (You might not have the most obvious picture for someone's theme. Be creative.)
