Sorry, but can I get help on which loop to request?

Thanks in advance. We will be taking our first trip down from May 21-27. We have a reservation for a premium site, but don't know which loop would be best to request. We have two children, DS - 6, DD - 4, and my parents are also joining us. I would think we would be best suited near the pool, boat to MK, etc. Would prefer not to back up to a road or cabin, but wouldn't be the end of the world. What other info do you need to help in giving me advice. Thank you very much. Oh, and no pets will be coming with us.

I would say that you would like the 1400 loop. It is close to the pool, campfire and Meadow Trading Post. Not so close to the Marina. If you would rather be mid-way between the Meadow and Settlement (Marina) area, then go for 600, but there is no comfort station on this loop, and it is a pet loop.

I know this is terrible, but I'm also new to RVing in general, so what do the comfort stations consist of? I can't really say whether I need to be close to one or not if I dont know what they are. Thanks.

Comfort stations include restroom and shower facilities (the cleanest/nicest you'll find in just about any campground) as well as a laundry room and ice machine.

Oh my.

Before I answer your question, can you go get me a left handed smoke shifter?

Just kidding. :rotfl2:

The comfort stations are what non-campers might call bathrooms. They are buildings located on most of the camping loops with a men's and ladies' restroom, and a laundry room in between. The restrooms have what you would expect restrooms to have, plus private shower stalls. They are clean and air conditioned.

If you have a large family, they can be lifesavers when the gang needs to get showered to go somewhere.

SOunds like the 1400 loop is probably the best bet then. OK, so should I call now and put that request on my reservation, or just request it when I get there? Thanks again.

Yes, put it on your reservation, but, in addition, the best way to do this is to fax your request to the campsite assigner 5 days before you are set to arrive. Not sooner. Not later. The fax number is 407-824-3508

These are only requests, and nothing is guaranteed, but, in my experience, this fax will be your best shot at getting your request met.

5 days, huh? Is that, like, to the hour? What format does the request need to be in? Just a letter? Would it hurt if I go ahead and call them and ask them to put it on the reservation?

We have always just put it on our reservation, but we do tend to go during off season.

No, it won't hurt to put the request on your reservation.

A disboard member, clkelley (Carol), developed a fax form, which she has generously shared. She has stated that the person who assigns campsites at the Fort does not do so until 5 days before you arrive. The fax gives that person a visual reminder of your request, and makes it easy to accommodate.

Here is Carol's magic fax form:

The letter I use for my campsite requests is as follows:

The fax# is:407-824-3508

Date

TO: Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground Site Assigner

FROM: Name
Address

SUBJECT: Site Request for Month xx - xx

RE: Reservation # xxxxxxxx

I am really looking forward to my stay at the Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground and am writing about campsite requests. I do understand that these are only requests and cannot be guaranteed.

If possible, I would like a site in Loop xxxx or Loop xxxx with a site that will accomodate the following: (list your "stuff" here) and near (whatever you want to be near).

Thanks so much for your help, and once again I’m really looking forward to my visit to Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at xxx@xxx.xxx

Sincerely,
