Sorry another "will we have enough time" ? AK to Boma

so we booked a FP for Festival of the Lion King.. times are from 4:30-4:50. I assume this is the 5pm show.
From my understanding show is 30 minutes.. putting us as 5:30. We have a car and have a ADR at Boma at 6:20.. Shouldnt be a problem right? I am thinking getting out of show to car about 20 minutes ? Then 10 to AKL . we should be ok right?

All of that is pretty much right on. Might take you 30 to get from the new location of the show, back through the hub, up and out to your car. It was a bit easier/quicker with the old theater location. The drive will be, likely, less than 10 min unless you magically hit a mass exodus AND the light there is red. It's really about a 5 min drive to AKL Jambo. Then finding parking, etc, at AKL Jambo, and getting through the lobby, down the stairs, to the check in desk.


You could even forgo the trek to the middle of the parking lot, if you're out in the boondocks. Depending on where the AKL bus stop is that day, you could peek as you head out and see if there's a bus there (or check the ETA on arrival of the next one). You'll stop at AKL Kidani, first, then Jambo, but that's an extra 3 or 4 min, tops. You probably save that on not having to park AND trek through the lot.

LK was never really by the entrance. Even when it was in Camp Minnie Mickey (first home) you still had a bit of a hike to get out of CMM, back through the Oasis and then out of the park. From an overhead map (like Robo's) it may have looked like it was right there, but you couldn't just get out. The new location is down in Africa, so a bit futher, but not terrible.

Festival of the Lion King's theater used to be in a location that LOOKED LIKE (from an overhead view)
it was next to the DAK entrance.

But, even then, it was actually a very long walk from the front gates, as guests were required to walk through Oasis, across the bridge to the central Tree of Life/Discovery Island walkway, a distance to the entrance of Camp Minnie Mickey (right next to Pizzafari Restaurant, then all the way back down the path across the bridge and around to the center of Camp Minnie Mickey to arrive at to the FoLK theater.

Now, a new FoLK theater has been built in "Africa" (which is where it should have always been.)
The walk between the new theater and the front gates is not actually a lot further (it may not be ANY further) than when it used to be in Camp Minnie Mickey.

Honestly to me it will be cutting it close as your are suppose to check in 10 minutes before your ADR. The bigger question is What time does the park close .. 6pm? If that is the case you might not make it to the car in 30 minutes.

As another poster said, even when it was in Camp Minnie Mickey, it wasn't really AT the exit. However, it WAS a slightly quicker shot out from there, IMHO, since Camp Minnie Mickey's "spoke" was closer to the exit out of the "hub" of Discovery Island.

The "old" location, though, is now the current location of the Avatar Land build. They built a new theater in Africa, to the left as you cross the bridge from Discovery Island, so it's a bit longer of a walk back, and out of the park. Not CONSIDERABLY longer, but maybe an extra 5 to 10 min.

Edit:

As an bit of anecdotal info: We stay at Animal Kingdom Villas pretty much every trip.

It has NEVER (context: We use resort transportation) taken us an hour to get out of the park and back to the resort, before. No matter where we "finish up" (Everest, Nemo, Festival, Kilimanjaro). Usually about 30 to 45 min. We've never finished our day in the very back corner of Asia and we've never finished up near closing time....so I suppose it's possible that would do it.
