Sorry I've been looking thru the threads for my stroller answers, but can't find any. I have a 4yo DD. She is a stoller rider who likes to recline sometimes (if it's not an option do you think they care? Would they just lean their heads on the side bar?). She's 44" tall & 38lbs. Tall & thin. Since she is an older child (and my last child), I can't see spending money on the Maclaren stroller. I've checked Target.com - has anyone had good luck with the Jeep brand? I want more of an umbrella type, but one that reclines (maybe) - & easy to fold up and compact since there will be 9 people on our trip & there will be space issues. You guys are the experts - what do you think? What are some good - yet cheap brands?

She sounds like she is built just like my oldest DD. This probably isn't what you want to hear, but when my oldest was that age, I finally bit the bullet and bought a maclaren. It was the only stroller that she wasn't hitting her head on the canopy. This was three years ago, so you could try taking her to a store to try strollers out, but I'm fairly certain that she will be either eating her knees or hitting her head. If you decide to go the maclaren route, you can probably find the volo model (cheapest model, but no recline) for $100 or less. If you really need it to recline, it will cost you more.

Your other option is to rent. We started renting for our oldest two when they were 3 and 5. The rentals push really great but also don't recline. A 4 yr old probably won't need one outside the parks, so a rental is do-able (although you may be carrying her out at the end of the night).

Unfortunately, there aren't too many options for tall children.

Oh, and mine get so exhausted in disney that they have no problems falling asleep in the rentals! They get so tired there, that I think they could probably sleep standing up!

I know you don't want to hear it but as a Mom of 6 kiddos and previous owner of no less than 20+ strollers, I too, had to bite the bullet and get a Maclaren. My DS, 40+ pounds and tall fits wonderfully, easy to push, can't beat the 8.6 lb. weight of the volo and yes, he has napped in it. The 96 model is available on line from albee for 69.99. a little better than $100. I would also keep my eye on babiesrus and toysrus on line. they are offering a clearance mac volo for $aprox. $25-$30!! but it is not available right now but they have been known to restock form other supplieers so you could snag one. my one regret is not buying the mac sooner. they have have great resale value as well.

Jeep strollers are made by Kolcraft and they sell a similar stroller to the one on Target.com AT WDW - here's a pic

We just bought a Dreamer Design jogging stroller (on ebay, so I got a decent deal) for my 43" tall ds and we'll be using it on our next trip, which will be two weeks long. He's still very much a stroller rider and still will even fall asleep in one from time to time. Since we have one long trip planned this fall and another probably sometime early next year as well, we decided to buy the jogger since we'll definitely spend less money that way over renting one. Plus this way we can use it outside the parks as well.

Anyway, my thought was you might consider renting and if you do one day and it's not working out then you could always pick up a Kolkraft for $40 right in the parks. The picture above was taken right outside the doors of the gift shop by the World Showcase entrance of Epcot.

Thanks - that's not really what I wanted to hear, but it'll do :) . We use the stroller alot for her - and I refuse to carry her! We'll be doing other things during vacation - beach, Sea World, visiting resorts (we're going in December), so I don't think renting one would be my best bet. I'll look on ebay and see what I can find.

Thanks - I knew you'd help :thumbsup2

I just bought the gold Triumph from Albeebaby.com It was originally $159, but they have it on sale for $109 in the gold. It has a recline and come with a rain cover. And I figgured the gold color might be easier to spot in the sea of strollers. Here is the link: http://www.albeebaby.com/ma20trstingo.html

Your 4 year old is the same as my 6 year old and she is who I bought it for as we leave for WDW in 19 days. I do have a 2 year old who will get a lot of use out of it as well, but he is staying home with Daddy this time.

I get it tomorrow and will let you know what I think. :)

I have to agree with what everyone is saying. Go for a Maclaren. I had the Kolcraft/Jeep stroller and it was AWFUL! I returned it the day after I got it...DD was under 1 at the time and she fell out of the stroller twice! The seatbelt is NOT very secure! I sucked it up and got the Maclaren Quest in an adorable Mod pink print...I LOVE it!!! It is SO easy to push...she's only 2 and she's 37 pounds! And it pushes like a dream. I also have the Maclaren Techno double for my soon to be 6 year old to sit in with her...and he is 45 pounds and that also pushes SO easily!!! I wish I found Maclarens sooner. :confused3

Here is a link to the Triumphs for sale on ebay...some BRAND NEW as low as $85.99! You REALLY can't beat that!!!

Here is a link to the Quests for sale on ebay...prices vary, so check it out. The Quest is a step up from the Triumph, but I wouldn't hesitate to get the Triumph anyway!!!

Now, if you don't mind it not reclining, the Volo is also a great choice. The seats are mesh so the fabric is TOTALLY breathable! Only downside, is it doesn't recline.

Good luck to you...you WILL NOT regret buying a Maclaren!! :cool1:

PLUS, they hold 55 pounds...probably a bit more!

let me just say: Chicco C5 is the bomb. It is around $90, but you can find it cheaper than at on eBay, and here at bizrate.com

it is very lightweight, reclines, has a shade, a basket to store things, and folds in a jiff. This is a great deal imo. It even has little cup holders on the top hanging off the side for moms and dads.

When you're done, sell it on eBay or on craigslist, since she is your last child. Or, if you are so inclined, all charities ( ie. goodwill, salvation army) need strollers.

Do it. You won't regret it. My experience with Graco, has been nothing but cheap, breakable parts. We buy everything Chicco, because it is made so well.

HTH!

Get the Maclaren. Worth every penny and you wont be sorry. We have the volo and the quest mod. Bought my first one when youngest DD was 6 for Disney trips only. Great investment. Now that another baby is on the way we got a Quest Mod for $120 from www.albeebaby.com since it reclines. Wish I had seen these 17 1/2 years ago when I had my first baby. I have owned TONS of strollers and Macs are the GREATEST!! Nothing compares!
