I know there are tons of ideas for cheap dinners/quick meals/etc on here. Our situation is a little different. I need ideas for high protein, healthy snack type meals. My DH is a drill sergeant and often has to grab a quick bite from his car between activities. It's really important to him to stay healthy. So far I'm thinking hard boiled eggs, trail mix, tuna packs, jerky (although high in sodium), granola bars. Any other ideas? TIA!

When my tall skinny DS was younger he would get hypoglycemic when he did not eat enough or properly enough. Here are some things that helped him...

peanuts or any nuts (can get salt free if needed)
peanut butter and jelly sandwich on bread or on crackers
milk
cheese and crackers

Do you have a cooler?

Meat and cheese cubes. Carrots and hummus (or bean dip to make it even higher in protein).

Nuts
Protein bars (or Fiber one)
Jerky
PB sandwiches on high fiber bread
If you have a cooler, lunch meat, boiled eggs, cheese

Dried fruit, whole fresh fruit, popcorn can help round it out
(not much new here)

DS had this issue when paying football--1 hr. weight lifting in AM & 2 hours practice in PM BUT he is allergic to tree nuts & a bit picky.
Jerky is a bit expensive for daily snack...
We spent a bit of time looking at the fiber content of a lot of pre-packaged snacks. We found that Crackerfuls by Ritz (do they still make those) and of all things, OREOS had more fiber than most. Now, he is crazy picky, so the Oreos were a fit of desperation....

That was a few years ago & there are a lot more protein & high fiber bars on the market.

Greek Yogurt has tons of protein
Handful of nuts

Not the healthiest, but Atkins Bars are good and high in protein. We like the Chocolate Crunch ones.

Fiber One Protein bars are also decent. My son loves the caramel nut ones.

I make my DH breakfasts ahead of time. I use multigrain English muffins, I will put a fried egg on (He does 1 whole egg and 1 white), cheese slice and a turkey sausage patty. I wrap them individually and freeze them. If you have a cooler he can keep it cold.

pita chips and hummas
lunch meat wrap (we use whole wheat tortillas)
Pita sandwiches or Pocket thins (these are like pitas but much softer and don't fall apart)
Grilled chicken would be good in these instead of lunch meat too
Trail mix

Almond butter and apples or celery to dip into it! Deviled eggs for a change of pace. Chicken salad on avocado halves.

Plain Greek yogurt, cheese sticks, make chia pudding w/ almond milk (not super high in protein but a fun snack and chia seeds are full of nutrients), veggies with hummus and avocado. Nuts are great but watch the quantity due to the high fat content.

When my husband did the Insanity workout his favorite quick meal was making "lunchables" with deli meat, cheese, and whole grain crackers. I made sure to buy nitrate free meat. Unfortunately deli meat still isn't great for you due to the sodium so it was only an occasional meal. But, that would be an option he could have once a week maybe.

You guys are fabulous thanks for the great ideas!!!

Kind bars

Sold at costco they work out to about $1 each

I am also a fan of Sigg yogurt, but that requires refrigeration
