Sorry Another Gatwick Hilton Question!

Hi everybody,

Now getting into planning mode. I phoned up Virgin today to book the Gatwick Hilton for the night before we fly. The brochure prices + the 10% FV made it look a tempting offer + the fact that the car park is on site, well thats not the case anymore! I was advised by Virgin that you cannot book this hotel direct with them anymore, they give you an alternative number to phone. The prices are much higher £159 inc parking and you have to park in summer special, so you cannot have access to your car first thing in the morning. Does anybody know another agent who is cheaper than £159 and you get to leave the car at the hotel, so you can put things into it on the day of depature. I used Summer Special last year and had to wait forever for the buses then to get the keys, so I would prefer not to use them.

The site I've used in the past is ABC Holiday Extras , but they also used the Summer Special carpark out past the North Terminal.

We used that carpark last August and also found the wait for the shuttle bus was quite long (30 minutes) when we returned.
We didn't find not being able to return to the car a problem though. The kids nightwear easily tooked away in our hand luggage and we took old toothbrushes and through them away (we had new ones for the holiday in our cases )

We stayed at the Gatwick Hilton last Christmas with the car parked at Summer Special. To get round the access to our car on the day of departure we booked one night over night parking in the Hilton car park and DH moved the car to Summer Special after we had loaded it with our overnight things.

We also had a long wait for the bus on our return - it was quite a scramble but have decided that next time me, DD and DS will take the cases back through to the Hilton, have a nice cup of tea and wait for DH to hop quickly on the Summer Special bus and bring to car to us. This might suit you too.

That's a good idea Camac - I might do that next December. It may be a bit cold hanging around for the carpark bus outside the terminal

Thanks Camac, that does sound a good idea. Did you also book the hotel through ABC Holiday Extras? Also, did you book the overnight parking when you got there or did you also prebook this?

Oooh, we were waivering about booking the hilton for next august but after reading all your glowing reports, I've just gone and done it. It was a bit pricey, but I think worth it for the convenience of being right on the airport. (I'll let you know ). We wanted to miss the early morning dash and exhaustion for the first few days of the holiday.

We paid £221.50 for two rooms, one double and one triple for four adults and one child and fifteen days parking using ABC.

Hi Bekki,

I booked directly with the Hilton and arranged the extra nights car parking with them before we arrived then just paid the one bill to cover it all. I paid around the same price as Wheezie but you may be able to get it cheaper thru an agent.
