My dd has the Kodak Easy Share Z712IS and is about ready to throw it away. It literally eats batteries. Some days she is getting 3-4 pictures and it dies. We have bought new Energizer rechargeables and have been trying those - no luck. She puts my Eneloop batteries in and her camera won't even power up - they work great in my Canon. I have read that this particular camera really drains batteries, but I don't know if we should try another type of battery or if maybe something is wrong with her camera. It is only a few months old. Any suggestions from the pros?

It sounds to me like there is something wrong with the camera. Since it is only a few months old, call Kodak and try and get it serviced. It should be under warranty. Regular AA's aren't good in digital cameras or many other electronic devices. Rechargeables or lithium are the way to go. Since she is having the same problem with rechargeables definitely try and get it serviced.
