Hi- we tried to play SOTMK last time we were there in 2012.:thumbsup2 DS was still too young:sad2: but he will be 8 when we go this fall. I am hoping he will be more into it this time bc I thought it was really cool! :yay:
Having said that...

We have the cards, not a complete set but I'm working on that. (Trading in the collectors board!:coffee:) Last time you could just go get the cards w your KTTW and they'd give you the packs for everyone in your party. I hear the rule has changed that you have to open a magic portal before getting your next pack of cards the next day. So if you stopped in MK Tuesday for your cards after playing Monday but didn't play Tuesday bc u hopped to Epcot, you can't get cards Wed until you open a portal?:confused3 Also, does each person in your party have to open a portal? I thought you could play as a group, is that true? But if you play as a group, do you only get one card pack?

and about Bonus/booster Packs...
I didn't know anything about those last time, but I hear you can purchase them. How much are these and where do you get them?

TIA ~ Sphinx

It's my understanding that you have to activate your next portal before you can get another pack of cards (limit of one pack per ticket per day). So yes, you would have to activate a portal on Wednesday before you can get another pack of cards.

If you play as a group, then you only have one portal key card. You have to activate that key card before everyone associated with that key card can get a new pack. So, if there are three of you playing as a group, you can all get new packs of cards once you've activated the key card.

Finally, yes, there are Booster packs that can be bought at store in the MK. They're $14 per pack. They come with 7 cards, including one of the super-rare card (61 and higher). You can find all of the details here:

If you haven't played since 2012 there is no worry your old games are long gone. They have reset the game database atleast 2x since then.

You do have to open a portal now/advance your game, as far as getting all the cards for all they people it's totally based on CMs. Some make you wave your MagicBand for everyone getting cards. Other have just made made me show them the game with 5 people on it and gave me the 5 packs.

I'm complex I have 2 games going with different admissions people. The reason is that the 1 solo game is me playing on Med, the other is on easy and it's my 4.5 yo son and wife playing,

After easy level they don't play you the storyline cartoons any more. The lack of cartoons upset him, so I just started an easy game for him. So he could "Watch the cartoons." The part that he apparently really cares able.

We also haven't played since March 2012, but my daughter looks at her cards DAILY. She's very excited about picking up some new ones. So you're saying we will need to stop by a portal and use her key card before we can pick up a new set of cards, or can we just stop by the firestation/Liberty Square for cards first since its been so long?

From everything I've read, if you haven't played since 2012, you will need to re-start the game (i.e., sign-up again). So you should be able to proceed directly to the Fire Station/Liberty Square and get a new portal key and new packs of cards. After that, you'll need to play/activate the portal before you can get the next pack of cards.

it doesn't matter after you start again.

Once you've started it doesn't matter, if you do the firestation at the start of the day or the end of that just have to go to a portal before you pick up.

You don't have to advance the game the same day. So you could get cards -> Portal -> next day -> get cards or get cards -> next day -> portal -> get cards. You just need the cycle cards -> portal (repeat up to completing the game) -> cards

You do know if you complete the game you get more cards the same day.

Thanks for the responses everyone!

No I didn't know that! Cool! Thanks for the tip.. :thumbsup2

I think this time I will have us all play as a group on easy since my son is kind of "meh" about it. lol I want it to be easy at first so he can get the hang of it.

Once you complete the easy level, does it automatically bump you up to med? Or if he likes it at easy, can he keep playing on easy?

OK cool. I was going to ask them to reset it for us anyway. We messed it up a few times bc my son would just see a portal and run over to it w a card, wether it was the right one or not, and then he would get up set if we didn't know which one it was and we'd have to watch the video again… it was so funny. we were such idiots about it. Not like it was that difficult a concept! hahaha oh well… he was 6 and my daughter was 2 and it was over Thanksgiving and it was new… :scared:

ugh :crowded:Thanksgiving:crowded: not doing that again. It USED to be empty over Thanksgiving back in the day. I remember going as a kid and walking on rides! Not so… not anymore… ;)

having read about this think it would be a great idea for our DS who will be 8 for our trip in April.

Sounds like loads of fun - any tips

The CM will ask you before bumping you up. If you have someone (like I do) that likes the cartoons/story. You need to stay on easy or do what I do and have two games (a party/group) on med, and a single person on easy so you can choose what you are doing.

Does anyone know if there are any new games or cards planned to be released?

Right now SotMK is trying hard not to be a victim of success.

When they released the game it had multiple levels enabled the portals got backed up with people playing the higher levels and they turned it off. (Yes it back on now) but they have had to make changes to handle the number of players. They even introduced the pirates game to try abc pull a few people away from SotMK.

That said they are releasing cards for the parties. They had talked about releasing special cards like for movie release. But they are basically doing the same thing WotC had to deal with when they released M:TG. Just trying to keep up.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't have a LTM SotMK card one week/while supplies last or what ever. I really was expecting it.

But once things with SotMK slow down I expect to see series 2 cards. Maybe along the lines of the booster packs. That you have to buy. And the basic 60 cards are the free starter ones
