Who can tell me about this? My boys (12 & 7) want to try it. My planner brain screams "but it will mess with all of my touring plans!!!" Lol Has anyone done it and thought it was a waste of time? Or is it really fun and mom should back off? ;)

Also, does it run during MNSSHP? Thanks!

It's great, my kids loved it, and no I don't think it's a waste of time. The kids are having fun and that's why we take these trips. Our last trip was in October when paper FPs were still available so we tended to play lot when we were waiting for our FP return times.

We could not play out regular game after the start of the party (they said something that I didn't really fully understand about a party game going???), but frankly, we didn't want to play then anyway. While Sorcerers is fun and a great way to spend time between rides during the day, it's not something I'd spend time on during the party, when there are so many other things to do that aren't available during regular park hours.

Our 6 year old LOVES this game. He cannot wait to go back to play some more. I would save it for the times when the lines are longer. And I wouldn't want to play it during the party when there are other fun things going on.

See www.sotmkblog.com for gameplay information. I believe it does run during parties, but that is a huge waste of party time in my opinion.

My children (DS10 and DD14) started playing in Feb 2014. They are addicted! and MK has risen to "favorite park" status (from DHS) because of this game, in part.

I did not find it intrusive to touring plans, because at their age they understand the importance of rope drop and late night touring. So, we tended to play during the times when ride lines were at their peak.

Just know that the option of "going all out" with this game is available. They sell satchel/books to carry your playing cards and we saw several people carrying homemade card organizers. My son did trade one card with a collector but in general we did not see a lot of trading going on.

You can get 1 new set of cards each day and we ended up with maybe 20-25 cards by the end of our trip and will take them back this month.

To sample this game I would play when entering MK in the afternoon/evening and ask to play Main St. Then decide if you would like to play more!!

I was there during the busy MLK weekend, and found that playing Sorcerers was a great way to pass the time between FP+ windows instead of waiting in very long standby lines.

Also, the outpost in Frontierland/Liberty Square was much less crowded than the one at the Fire Station on Main Street. It's behind the Christmas store, near Tiana's meeting spot. So if you do get addicted, consider using that location for picking up your daily card pack.

We did the same thing.

My DS (10) absolutely loves this game. We've made it a point to try to go to the Magic Kingdom and open at least 1 portal as many days as possible so he can get 2 new packs of cards each day. They linked both of our annual passes to his game so we get a pack for each of us.

For anyone that likes SOTMK & collects pins - I found a set of 2 mystery SOTMK pins for around $12 in the shop behind the castle. I can't think of the name of the shop but it has a lot of princess stuff and I think 2 of the portals are on the outside of it.

i was suprised by how much my kids (ds 13, DD17) enjoyed this. That said it kind of depends how many days you plan on spending in MK. We had 2 weeks (10 day Ph) so we often stopped in just to pick up our pack for the day, and then our last couple days we ended up at mk alot playing but i think thats because we had seen and done everything else before hand.

It was pretty fun, but not something I would do often. Of course it was also pretty busy the day I went, so at lot of the play spots I had to wait in a line and watch a lot of the same animation repeatedly, lol.

This is pretty much all my husband wants to do when we go to MK. On his birthday, all we did was play SotMK and do a few rides... that's all he wanted to do! I think it's a lot of fun... we even have shirts that give you bonus points when you play wearing them! We bought them at Sir Mickey's.

When we went to MNSSHP, we were able to get a special promo card that has a Halloween theme and Halloween effects, so if you go to the party, be sure to pick up the card at either the Fire Hall or behind the Christmas Shop. Ours are Chip n' Dale and have bats exploding out of a Jack O Lantern, I think! :thumbsup2

ETA: Husband tells me the MNSSHP promo card has bonus powers during the party, so if you do play during that time, it will let you level up more quickly. We mostly got candy but played a little.

Yeah….Mom needs to give in on this one. Sorcerer's is a great game and lots of fun. My son and I play every time we go and it has never gotten old for us. Please let the kids play and you will be the hero! Have fun! :wizard:
