I've seen this new game mentioned a few times. Can anyone explain what exactly it is and would it be a good choice for DD who will be 6 3/4.

Where do you go if you want to do this?

Its just to the left as you enter the park, in the Fire station building. We haven't done it, will try get time this holiday.

you need to go to the fire station. They will ask you for your ticket/KTTW (one per player)

you'll be given a card with a key on it, and a starter kit with 5 cards and a map.
If you've never played before, the CM will give you a short lesson about the game and explain. The CM will then tell you where your starting point is.

You'll need to go to that "window", and show your key card to that window.
A sequence will start and you'll most likely face a Disney Villain.
You'll need to show one of the "attack" cards from your deck to cast a spell.
Depending on the outcome, you'll be directed to another location throughout MK
You can decide to stop playing anytime you chose to, and return playing a few days later, you'll resume play at the point you stopped playing (next window you were instructed to go)

Important things to know : if you decide to all play, each key card is personnal and make sure you don't mix them, because each card will have a different starting/resume point. So if you use the wrong key at the wrong window, it won't work.

policies might change, but you can return to the fire house every day to get a new set of spell cards. You'll need to have your key card with you.
When I was there in february, we could get as many card as we wanted, just by waiting for a shift change and registering as a new player ... it seems they have restricted the number of cards each guest can get.
(I think you can also get new cards when you level up)

It seems that, at times, there can be fairly large lines at some windows, so it's time consuming.

You can give it a try, since it's free. If your DD doesn't get into it you can simply drop it.
If you go for that game, register all of the members in your party, not only your DD, each player will get a starter deck of cards. So even if DD doesn't quite like it, that will make her some cool Disney cards to collect.

Pretty much everything chmurf said except you are now limited to one set of spell cards per day now, shift change means nothing as they tie your registration to your park ticket and they can see if you've already picked up cards that day. Mainly because (presumably local) people were getting oodles of cards every day and flogging them en-masse on ebay - always a small group who spoils it for the many, grr.

On that note, cards are tradeable amongst guests in the same way pins are amongst guests so be moderately aware that there can be 'card sharks' (I saw a couple lurking by the windows though clearly I had nothing of interest for them) who might be suddenly interested in trading for a particular card as some are rarer than others and as such they try to trade you off with some crap instead.

All in all though, we had a ton of fun with the cards. We are both adults with no kids so MK isn't exactly our 'best' park, but it definitely added an extra light-hearted dimension to the place and also gave us some purpose to explore which sometimes we lack there.

Try to avoid peak times picking up your cards though as the line at the fire station can be really long sometimes.
