We saw it tonight and really enjoyed it...stayed until the credits were finished and were rewarded. All three of us recommend it!

We saw it tonight also! LOVED it!!! Such a wonderfully done movie. I was surprised at how empty the theater was though. Now, if it had just been in 3D...... oh WOW!!!:3dglasses

Ours was lightly attended as well, which was sure a change from the week prior at the same time for 'Despicable Me'.

Thanks for posting! I was debating about seeing it Sunday. I'm not a big Nicolas Cage fan and the reviews aren't that good so I was iffy on it.

I've been biased against this movie from the beginning (The Sorcerer's Apprentice is my favorite scene from my favorite Disney film) and I hate to see the name applied to something that seems sort of cheesy. But maybe it's good! Glad to see some positive remarks about it!

My 11 yo & I saw it last night. It was much "darker" than we expected. She enjoyed it, it was "ok" for me. I don't know, just something was missing..... I also didn't care for the actor who played the adult David.:confused3

we were going wednesday.........did not make it, maybe tonite. this will not reach blockbuster status but should make back its production costs if you figure in the international box office.

It's shame. I thought the idea for this movie had alot of potential. Some of the reviews said it relied alot of CGI tricks.

I purposely don't read reviews if I intend to see a movie...details get revealed and I prefer my enjoyment of the movie-going experience to be untainted by a critic's opinion. I thought the CGI bits were well done...I'm no expert. I liked the story, especially the grounding of the story through Merlin as well as Balthazar's journey. I recommend giving it a chance!

DD11 and I saw it this afternoon- we both liked it very much. There are a lot of special effects, but the movie is about magic- I figured it would have a lot of CGI in it. I thought they were well done and not just thrown in for no reason. Would recommend it to anyone wanting a great summer "popcorn movie". Lots of action, thrills, laughs, and a little romance thrown in.

We saw it this afternoon as well. Me & DW really enjoyed it. Great story and the CGI was great. For the people that think it relies on CGI what do you expect it is about magic and sorcery. Give it a chance and judge for yourself. Critics are not always right.

DBF and I just came back from seeing it today. We usually stay until the end, but didn't. Sorry about it now. We thought is was good. Our theatre was empty too. DBF said it won't compete wit a big Leo DiCaprio movie coming out on the same weekend. I liked the CGI and the fight towards the end is what made it for me. Liked the story line and the Fantasia addition. I would also suggest to give it a chance.

I too saw Despicable Me. I thought it was cute, but definitely something to bring kids too rather than seeing it alone. Steve Carell was good, though. Some funny parts, but definitely a kids movie.

Just got back from Sorcerer's Apprentice and REALLY enjoyed it! :thumbsup2Definitely a good summer popcorn movie. I even said I would go see it again and I very rarely see a movie in a theatre twice.

I don't often listen to critics, I usually find we don't agree, I was just commenting on what a few of them said. I didn't think the movie relied on CGI too much, it all seemed to fit in fine and was needed for this kind of movie.

I wish it was doing better box office, I can definitely see a sequel.

Haven't seen it yet. I'd like to see it, but every movie for me right now is just something to hold me over until Tron: Legacy comes out.

It was just ok for me, the actor that played david was a bit harsh. We did stay for the end and while it was nice....I can't say it was worth the wait. I did enjoy the little Disney touches and the humor. I went with a 9 and 11 yo boy and they both enjoyed it a lot.

I gotta agree, I thought David was a bit much, also he sounds EXACTLY like Christian Slater and it was a little distracting to me. Same voice, inflection, tone, it was weird, like he was lip synching to Christian Slater's voice. I thought Nicholas Cage was perfect as Balthazar, but I could see other actors as David.

I don't see the Christian Slater similarities...I've seen him in quite a few movies and maybe that's why. He's fairly well known in Canada, from early days hosting a kids show with Elisha Cuthbert. He writes and directs as well.

Seriously? I must be losing it then because he sounded just like him to me. Doesn't look like him at all, but sounds just like him to me. I'm a fan too, since Heathers, I'm going to have to see Sorcerer again and see if I was hearing things.

Saw it last week with my dd14, dd29 and dson-in-law 31, we truly enjoyed it, waiting till the credits is over is certainly worth it! This may be one I see a second time, and I try to not do that! Well worth it! :happytv:
