Sopranos - Season finale

As a big fan of the Sopranos, I have to say that this episode was the most disapointing of all the season finale's they ever had. I have 5 seasons on dvd's and watch them on a regular basis and this season sputtered right out of the gate after the shooting of Tony.

I too kept expecting something to happen to Christopher when he was in the coffee shop at the end and he deserved it too. That would have been interesting to see Tony and his crew "go to the mattresses" as the old mob saying goes.

I guess the creators of the Sopranos don't care much for their audience with a two year wait between 5 and 6 and now this? I can see why the ratings are off compared to other seasons. Pretty lame season ending for long time Sopranos watchers like me, IMO. :confused3

Ditto ! My DH and I just looked at each other like "That's it !!!!!!!!!!!" very very disappointing :sad2:

Why must there be a "whacking" every episode in order for it to be interesting? Do we want a show empty of substance, but full of gore? Why even have a script? Why not just have one killing scene after another?

I love subtle nuances and intricate character development.

Last night's finale was a well crafted study in the choices we make as humans, and the consequences of those choices. In each moment of each day, we have the freedom to make a choice. Even the smallest choice could make a huge impact on our lives.

Tony could escalate the senseless violence between his and Philly's crew. He clearly dislikes Phil and has no use for him. But, he chose to be a man. A human with simple compassion for another human. He went in to see Phil and gave him a great message.

Carm could follow her conscience and keep digging into the Adriana situation. Or, she could fall for Tony waving something shiny in front of her face and choose to look the other way, just as long as she's getting what she wants.

A.J. could have easily chosen to sic some of his dad's thugs on those street hoods, or could have gone out there and shot them up himself. He found a non-violent solution. (By the way, he's one of my least favorite characters, but last night's storyline of him falling in love made him a lot more real and fascinating to me). A.J. could also have used his dad's "connections" in order to get a stolen diamond necklace for his girlfriend. Instead, he used his own, worked-for money.

I could go on, but this is getting too long. I just wanted to say that I found the finale fascinating and thought-provoking. Each of these characters made a choice that I would never have predicted.

They did bring Ade into the storyline. Tony got Sil to "talk to" the Building Inspector and the stop work order on her spec house was lifted. He did that so she would get off of her "Christopher killed Adriana" kick. And it apparently worked.

I liked the episode. Added a lot of interesting story lines; Christopher falling in love with Juliana (junkies in paradise) and the two of them watching Hitchcock's Vertigo.

AJ becoming a man, so to speak. (Is she from Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic - at least she's a Catholic; CLASSIC).

And what could be more disfunctional than the holidays at The Sopranos.

And Phil having a heart attack. I can't wait 6 months....

We just watched the show from Sunday night. We used to so look forward to Sunday nights, but this season just has not done it for us. I thought Sunday nights episode jumped around a lot. Bummer.

We really got into watching the first season of 24 the past couple of weeks. Now that is a show. We will be starting second season tomorrow (hopefully!).
