Just saw on another thread that mugs are good for length of stay. That its ok to bring them to a 2nd resort as long as its the same vacation. I always thought we needed to buy new mugs so when changing resorts either did w/out or bought new. If they really are good for length of stay, can I then bring them w/us when we poolhop? (DVC) I hadnt thought of doing that until I read the other thread. Does the sign now just say "Length of stay" or does it also say "at this resort only"?

Are you evel allowed to 'pool-hop'.
I think All Star guests are (within the All Star resorts), but not sure about the others..

Yes, she can pool hop since it's a perk for DVC owners. Just not to SAB or to pool at AKL. But, the new mugs all say on them....free refills at this resort only, for lenght of this stay only. So, technically, you can use it for your whole stay, at that particular resort. But not pool hop with it, since it's not 'technically' good at that other resort. But, I'm sure people do it all the time.

I believe the sign said "during your stay" which now obviously means "your stay in WDW during this vacation", which I construed it to mean in the first place. ;)

Sorry! Didn't see that :guilty: :)

When I bought my mug at BW last summer it did say 'at this resort'. It was on the mug as well as on the signage. Personally, I don't much care what people do....just wanted to be sure I was understood correctly as to what I've seen, on my mug.

I posted the info and no where did it say anything concering "visiting" another resort. The info was quite clear in that you would have to be a registered guest at the other resort. The question that started the debate was if you stayed and payed to stay at 2 different resorts could you use the mug at the second resort. The info shared with me was if you had receipt then yes you could.

so when we first arrive in WDW and are "paying to stay" at BCV & VWL I can buy BC mugs (keep receipt) and use at VWL?
What about if we visit BC on our first day, then stay at VWL before staying at BC? Then Id only have to have 1 set of mugs. Im planning on buying new BC but returning w/WL. This way as long as I keep the BC receipt I dont need to bring back the WL mugs and can use the BC at WL?

Again not sure why this is confusing.

You can purchase a mug at the first resort you check into and receive a Resort ID. Then when you move to the second resort I was told you "should" be able to use the second mug if you keep your receipt and I would suggest you keep your ID also proving your length of stay at that resort.

Which ever resort you check into first would be the mug in question.

Since rarely are the policies enforced the discussion is probably mute. The previous discussion was not about enforcement, but about the actual policy.

If you visit BC the first day, as I said in my first post, you are not actually a guest staying there. Buy your mug at the resort you are checking into. Keep the receipt and your resort ID. If you move to and check into another resort later in your trip, you should be able to use the first mug.

But then again, who knows, policy at Disney is randomly enforced and always "subject to change. "

I was at POR a couple weeks ago. The sign on the beverage bar says "for your length of stay at this resort."

I agree - Disney doesnt enforce the mug rules

have a good day

You are definitely correct. I do think, based on what I was told, in the special situation where a guest's length of stay for the complete vacation involved more than one resort, they would honor the mug bought at the first resort. I a sure this is a courtesy call.

I mean technically it makes sense. If a guest stays 12 nights at the Beach Club and uses a mug. And another guests stays 6 nights at the Polynesian and 6 nights at POR, they are both staying the same amount of time.

The sign is to remind guests that Disney does not offer unlimited refills for life, as in bringing old mugs back after you go home.

Reading from my Poly mug:

"Free refills until the end of your stay. Refills only at location purchased."

When we split our stays, we get mugs at both places. They're nice souveniers.

Thank you for sharing--I was wondering about this for my upcoming trip.

when asking questions you are suppose to go through guest relations, and then the emails and letters are sent to the proper department.

One thing that bothers me about all these threads is that people are implying that those who feel they are following the rules that were in place when they bought thier mugs are stealing. I have never stolen anything in my life and am insulted by these comments. When I bought my Beach Club mug back in 1991 the mugs were available in your room. They were part of your rooms bar. If you choose to take anything from the bar they would charge you for it. The mugs were wrapped in plastic with a sticker on the plastic that said "Lifetime refills at the resort the mug was purchased". So, I bought this mug and I do bring it back and use it while I am at Beach Club. There is now a sign at the Beach Club by the new drink refill station that says if you purchase a mug it is good for the length of your stay at that resort. So, if I decide to purchase a new mug under these new rules, I will only use it for the length of my stay.

Interestingly enough in the email provided by the VP, I beleive she said something to the effect of "As far as I know, the current policy has always been the one in place" So basically she didn't know there was a policy in writing at one time that said lifetime refills.

Free refills until the end of your stay.
Refills only at location purchased.

This is written on my mug from the YC/BC 04'. I use it for my coffee mug at work. I get alot of comments about it, which makes it well worth whatever it cost, just to bring up the Disney topic.

A cheap Mickey watch and a refillable WDW resort mug, what can be better souvoniers?

And if we'd only known about this type of debate many years ago, you could have saved the little note on the plastic about "lifetime refills", posted a picture of it, and that would have ended all debates! :rotfl2:

I don't consider myself a thief ... some do ... I don't care! :teeth:
