sooo if mugs are good for Length of Stay, I can bring it w/me when I poolhop?

maryliz.... I was thinking the same thing. I really wish I had realized back then that someone would think I was a thief years later. I definatly would have taken a picture of that darn sticker.

Terry I apologize if any of my posts caused you, or anyone else, to think I was accusing you of stealing soda. It seems like in 1991 notices lead guests to believe they could bring them back for free refills. Disney could probably discontinue the program for everyone, policies are subject to change. I was wondering when Disney was officially promoting the future refill policy. Sounds like they were doing that in the early 90's.

Since at least 1997, probably earlier, the signage in the food courts limited your refills to the length of your stay. I guess the change was made sometime in the mid 90's. I know Boardwalk started putting the year on the mugs to make enforcement more obvious.

There are posters now who claim not to see the current signs and some who read them and don't understand what they say.

One thing that bothers me about all these threads is that people are implying that those who feel they are following the rules that were in place when they bought thier mugs are stealing. I have never stolen anything in my life and am insulted by these comments. When I bought my Beach Club mug back in 1991 the mugs were available in your room. They were part of your rooms bar. If you choose to take anything from the bar they would charge you for it. The mugs were wrapped in plastic with a sticker on the plastic that said "Lifetime refills at the resort the mug was purchased".

Woa.... I must be getting old. I totally mistyped that. It ment to say 2001. Not 1991.

I just went and looked through my pictures from 2001. My husband did take a picture of the dresser and the mini bar area on the dresser. You can see the mugs there and you can see there is a sticker on it, but I can't make anything out on the sticker. Darn, if only I had that software that they use on CSI and all the other crime type shows where they can zoom in on the little tiny things and read it clearly. Maybe I can send the picture to CSI and ask them to read it for me. They would understand how important it is to the people on these boards wouldn't they? It is life or death right?

For anyone still interested, If you contact Guest Communications and ask specifically about bringing back your old mugs since you were told you could.

They will inform you of the current policy concerning this particular situation.

If at anytime if I as Lewis stated, offended anyone during this discussion, I completely and totally apologize. That was never, never my intention. My only intention was I know what the policy is, I know what Disney will tell you if you ask. I do know it is not enforced at all locations, that might change though. At this time it is an honor situation.

It is up to each individual to do what they feel is right. I hope we can all let this go I know I will.

Thanks everyone, enjoy your weekend.

Sammie, you didn't offend me. I just find fault to your argument - you do not know the policy yet say you do. Disney communications responds with a template email about current refillable mug policy but does not address what the policy used to be. That is why I sought clarification on the matter from you. You partially addressed it with the VP of Food and Bev, and now I am attempting to seek further clarification. I think it would be good to get to the very bottom of this issue (or bottomlessness! ;) ), don't you?

It would end the debate and allow people who bring back their old mugs as they were told they could, who are made to feel guilty for doing so on this board, to know the complete truth about whether Disney will honor their original condition of sale or not. I think it's only fair to settle the debate officially and then do as someone stated - place these debates as a sticky thread for all to see.

I await an official disney executive response! And how is that breaking the rules of the board to the moderators who have deleted all mention of the above mentioned debate?

Not really relevant to this thread but I read you should never buy your mug from the mini-bar. All the service fees get added on so you wind up paying more than if you bought it from the food court. That might explain an old sticker on the mug.

Until recently BC didn't have any self service drink dispensors. The CM you give your mug to gets to decide if it's a current design or from another resort. I'd think a lot fewer guests would be nervey enough to give a CM an 7-11 mug or even a mug from another resort to refill.

Beach Club hasn't changed their mugs since the ones I bought in 2001. I have brought them back for about 12 trips since then. So even when it gets filled at B&C by a CM it is still the same mugs they are currently selling. I really wish they would get a new mug in. I want the kind with the smaller base so I can use it in my car like I use my AKL mug. By the way, when I buy a new one with the new rules, I won't bring it back since it will be bought under the new rules!

Too funny ... 1991 vs 2001 ! :rotfl2: I find it amusing that Lewis keeps saying the signs have been there for 10 years ... I said it before and I'll say it again ... NO they haven't. I bought my All Stars mugs in 2001 and there were definitely no signs. I brought them back in 2002 and that's when I noticed the new sign. I asked a CM, who by the way was telling me that we needed to come back soon because "our mugs are gonna get too lonely and homesick for the AllStars if we don't bring them back soon", about the signs. Told her what I had been told the year before and that I had not seen that sign when I purchased. She told me then that the signs were new, but that my mugs weren't affected by it. Yes, it's a CM just trying to keep me happy, but I'm good with that.
