Watching the OU game today, my DD (the aspiring pediatric oncology doc) noticed the gold ribbon pin on Stoops' visor. Since September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month and their ribbon is gold, she assumed that was what it is representing. I didn't know, but told her I knew where to come for the answer. Anyone know the back story?

She is right.

Off to one side, Stoops attaches a gold ribbon pin, denoting neuroblastoma awareness. Neuroblastoma is one of the most common solid tumors found in children under 10.
The pin is a promise to Cody Brown , an 8-year-old boy who died from the disease in 2003.

Thanks so much! She thought that was it. She's a walking encyclopedia of peds oncology. I find it depressing, but I know there have to be special people like her who are called to it. Coach Stoops has a new place of honor for her!
