Though I am not quite sure I understand what they are saying about HOW it will work... It isn't the same as the XBOX 360.

OK, I just saw on Netflix that they will send you a free disc to get your PS3 online to Netflix... sign up now, and they will ship it when it is ready.

Update.... in post 10, there is a link... looks like it will eventually be on the Wii as well.

I bought a PS3 about a 18 months ago exlclusively to use as a blu-ray player.
I really didn't want a game console, but at the time it was the most robust blu-ray player available. With the advent of Beatles Rock Band, and now this Netflix news, I'm very pleased with my choice of hardware.:)

Here is the Cnet press announcement. They announced this a few months back but there were no details at the time. Netflix is really making Blockbuster look bad with all their streaming options. Blockbuster is worried about canibalizing their store traffic by making streaming t easy but it seems their lallygagging is going to give Netflix a lead in the streaming business that they just won't get back.

It's been a while since I was able to use lallygagging in a sentence.

Blockbuster is dead; they just don't know it yet.

It will be helpful when the deskdrive dies :rotfl:

...happened to ours yesterday! 4 months out of the warranty, but Sony is fixing it free out of "good will." (otherwise they wanted to charge $150!)

Thank you for posting this! I signed up for the disk, but I have a feeling I'll be streaming from my xbox 360 more then my PS3, I find my xbox is easier to navigate through.

I also feel that Blockbuster is dying. I haven't done any business through them since I signed up for Netflix over a year ago. I also hear a lot of negative things about Blockbuster online.

I have both as well... If you buy the Sony DVD remote for the PS3, life is much easier.

Blockbuster still has stores?

[adapting old man voice] I remember when we'd go to Blockbuster to rent VHS taps every weekend, sometimes more than one trip.

When DVDs began to appear, Blockbuster was already lagging behind the technology change. FF to 2009{old man voice off]...I couldn't tell you the last time I was in a Blockbuster store. Late 90's?:confused3
