The short story is that Sony thought it'd be awesome to hire people to make a fake blog and advertise the PSP throughout the whole thing. It's pretty funny actually.

Sony why I cant watch the you-tube thing cause out school is blocking it. (some bandwith problem). But the artical makes me wonder if I should even be in the same place as a PS3. And it also makes me wonder what the school is serving for lunch I hungry and its only 1st period .

Sony is into the horrible attempt of viral marketing got to a new low. They made a fake blog wherin some hip-hop funbky fresh swingers decided to convince their freinds parents to get him a PSP for Christmas. Then, they rapped. And the guy was half-bald and old as someone really old. So then, they got caught on the blog's fakeness, released a stupid attempt at an apology, and ended up with their respect in the toilet. Companies have been doing this crap for years. Bungie/Microsoft is FAR better at it though. The site that was up before the Halo launch kept me guessing for quite some time. I still have no idea what that tree was all about.

Lol Bungie the first time I heard that (when halo 1 came out) I thought of bungie cords. Microsoft if good at every thing JK , but I haven't seen Nintendo do any thing like that (like they need the publicity ).

Viral marketing is, summed up, something that might show up on the internet clip shows (something crazy, awesome, etc.) An exmple of this is the Scary Ghost Ad commerial before it was edited into what is so popular now. It is taken from an ad for a German Energy drink. Also, there was a commercial for a raft wherein this guy is munualy inflating it with his breath by a lake. A kid runs up and jumps on the raft, causing the man's head to explode. Literally. It then says that the raft can hold A LOT of air.

Viral marketing also is companies pretending to just be normal people, as was the case with All I Want for Christmas is a PSP.

Viral marketing is extremely popular now, and in most cases is done relativly well, but this is not one of those cases.

Try to avoid getting into a game on Xbox Live with "TYNITTY 757"...apparently a poster on cheapassgamer didn't, and what he got afterwards were threats and offensive photos. There's not much you can do, tho, when the guy shows off a stun gun and claims that he works for MS. Don't you just love it when people save their best work for the holidays?
