Sony Handycam question -- need lots of mini discs

We have a Handycam that we will be taking on our Med cruise. So far we have just used it for special occasions and have not found the 30 minute limit on the discs to be a problem. But I just realized that we might well want to record a lot during the cruise. So I am wondering, where can I get a bunch of the discs without spending a fortune? I have been paying about $10 for a pack of 3. These are the re-writable ones made by Sony. Should I look into the kind that can only be used once? A different brand? Anyone with any advice?!?

I would say EBAY but if you are going to ARCHIVE you should stick to good labels Like verbatim. Also search for mini DVD not mini disc, that is a whole different media.

If you are going to off load and then back up elsewhere generics "should" do.

Have you rewritten any of your previously used discs???

Thanks for the reply. This will be a dumb question, but what are the good labels (other than verbatim)? I will have a laptop but I am not sure I want to risk loosing the video by using iffy discs. And we have rewritten a previously used disc occasionally--we might shoot five minutes of something and then back up and record over the last two or three minutes.

Verbatim is the only one I use for archive purposes(Raw files), it has not done me wrong yet.

But the way I understand it other labels might use the same blanks as Verbatim(from the same plant, same dye, etc...) I have just not researched which ones those might be.
