What fun could we have to celebrate my son's 8th birthday while in the Disney area? Yes, we're planning to visit the 2 parks - but what is special for dinner/activities for a boy that age on his "real" birthday?

Thanks!

Make sure you get a birthday badge for him--CMs will wish him happy birthday all day long. Is he into characters? You could have dinner at Goofy's Kitchen--it's a lot of fun. There's the Happiest Birthday on Earth at the Plaza Inn (they do it mid-afternoon) and everyone gets their own cake.

We had my daughter's 7th birthday at Disneyland and my mom and dad's 50th anniversary at on the Fastasmic Balcony.

Call Guest Services. Let them know that you want to do -- they are terrific people to work with.

He will never forget this birthday!

We had my daughter's 4 th birthday @ Goofy's kitchen. My daughter wore her Cinderella dress her brother and cousin wore the pirates bandana with the goofy ears hanging off. They wore patches on their eyes and each got a knife from the pirates gift shop. I made small party bags for each of the kids (3). We ate lots, had many characters visit our table and make a big deal of the b-day celebration. Each child had an autograph book for the character to sign and I took their picture. I had a cake made and brought to the table. The CM's belted out happy b-day.......it was great. My daughter had a blast. I had a blast watching her take in all the magic.

If you do a party, I would think about skipping the party bags that DL sells. We bought those too and mine were much better and less expensive. We made our ressies for late afternoon. If you ask CM's what time the "full" character staff is there and not in the park - this helps with character interaction time.

Any way I think a party is a wonderful idea. Have loads of fun planning for it. Good Luck, Laurie :)

My daughter who turned 8 at Disneyland in September really enjoyed the Plaza Inn Birthday Party. You can call and make a PS for this, they generally have two parties a day. I think it was $10 a person and each person at the table gets to decorate their own little cake. They have this guy named Pat E. Cake who runs the party and then Mickey and Minnie come for a visit. It was great fun and I think it lasted around 45 minutes. Also, she enjoyed her birthday bucket that we got her at Goofy's. Hers was a princess, I think the boys bucket has Buzz on it. It had all kinds of goodies in it and she loves to keep her trinkets and small items in it now. I think that cost around $8-10 if I remember correctly. When they bring the bucket out, it has a small cake with a candle on it and all the characters and CM's sing Happy Birthday. I know this will be the birthday she remembers her whole life and your son will too!

I'm not quite sure if you are looking for something inside the parks (can't help with that) or outside. If the latter, for an 8 y.o. boy I would definitely consider Medieval Times. My almost 10 y.o. son has been there about 4 times in the last 3 years or so and just loves the place. Food is so-so, I guess, but what really matters at that age is the action, and MT has it! Check out their website (if for no other reason than that it is fun to see how the knights get their training).

I was thinking outside or inside the parks. Goofy's Kitchen is outside, right? Meaning you don't have to have a ticket to go there. But, there is so much to Anaheim and its surrounding area - surely someone has seen something really cool for an 8 year old boy. Medieval Times would be fun...
