I love Sonic!!!! Of course, I grew up on it because they started and are based here in Oklahoma.

So, ya'll can thank the Sooner state for all that Sonic goodness!!!

I think it's in Southfield, maybe??? I'm on the complete other side of the Metro Detroit area. We drool over the Sonic commercials. We talk about going to the new Sonic but never have. It's kind of far just for some fast food. Maybe we'll do it now that gas prices have dropped. I'm dying to try a cherry limade.

ETA it's Southgate, not Southfield. There's one in Flint, too.

They are on every corner here and we don't much care for it but if we do go, I don't tip. I use the CC option and they don't allow for tipping to be added.

Thankfully most have drive throughs so we don't have to even wait for the order to come to us.

Sonic's onion rings are handmade every day...I know because I work there and I make the daggone things. They are good and that's why!! But they are such a pain in the butt.

I also LOVE the diet cherry limeades...I get them all the time. The chocolate cream pie shakes are SINFUL! (and if you knew the calories in them...YIKES!)

I think the food is okay. The burgers are nothing special but edible. I like the tater tots and onion rings. I love corn dogs so I love having that option too. We really like the drinks and blasts as well.

I told my DD17 about this thread and about the tipping question and she said, "yes, you DO tip the girls who bring out your food or we will go back inside and talk bad about you!!"

Wait a minute--where have they opened up Sonic in Michigan?

While I thought there food was okay when I lived in New Mexico, I absolutely stop every time I got back to visit for a cherry lime. Does this mean I now get one more than twice a year?

Sure is. Two are opened in Michigan- Southgate and Flint. I hear more are coming but with the bad economy not sure when they will open. Heard one was suppose to open in Canton around Thanksgiving but has been put on hold. Also heard Sonic was coming in Livonia, Walled Lake and Utica?? Not sure when?

Sonic's Cherry Limeades are to die for especially when they are 1/2 off during their happy hour during the week between 2-4pm Just don't get the Diet Cherry Limeade.....YUCK

I love Sonic! I used to have one about 10 minutes from me but they closed it years ago. The closet one now is by Disneyland.

I agree with you. I love their drinks. But find the food is just okay. Nothing special.

Well, the giant industrial size jars just say Sonic on them...so I'm guessing it's something made for them. There are very few things in there that aren't "Sonic" brand. I like to put hickory sauce AND mayo on my chicken sandwiches...yummmm!

Do they still have deep fried pickles at Sonic? When I was stationed in Altus Oklahoma, my ex-husband and I used to hit the Sonic for dinner every so often. I thought they sounded gross but he loved the deep fried pickles. The food was OK back then. It was in the early 1980's.

We ate at Sonic in Orlando a couple of weeks ago and we loved it too!!!

My youngest DD LOVES apple juice, and she got their applejuice slushie, and, in her words, said, "It's beautiful!!!" To funny!!!!!

I like Sonic, there is one like 30 seconds down the road from me. Diet Cherry Coke, Diet Cherry Sprite are my faves. I find the food pretty greasy, but that doesn't stop me from picking up a burger or some mozz. sticks. I actually like their grilled chicken wrap, which doesn't seem too unhealthy.

Question about the onion rings....I got some a few months ago, and they were the WORST onion rings I have ever had, BY FAR! Super thick breading (I like thick, but this was crazy!) and they had noooooooooo flavor. Everyone here seems to like them! Should I give them another shot???

That sounds like a fantastic deal! Especially considering I stopped into Burger King last week and all their value meals were $6 or more...for one meal . I left there right quick and went down the road to McDonald's.

I'm not cazy about the burgers either, but that Brown Bag Special is hard to beat. I ask for tots instead of fries, thouugh.

Drinks-Cherry limeaid, java chillers. Looks for happy hour 2-4 or 2:30-4:30 for 1/2 price.

We really really like the cheesesticks, popcorn chicken, jalapeno bites. I like spicey so I add jalapenos to anything-burgers, coney's, tots, etc. You can get extreme tots here that I like that are tots, chili, cheese and jalapenos. Super sonic burrito's are good, also.

Now, I'm hungry....

We do tip those teenagers, esp. since they work regardless of the weather. They get extra if it's cold, rainy, etc. Why would you tip a server at a buffet and not them. It's close to the same to me. You should be able to expect a refill of your drinks at the buffet, but then you have to go pick up your food, also.
