Ever hear a song a zillion times and not get the meaning?

I sooooo did not know that Prince's "I Would Die 4 U" was about Jesus. Who knew?

And I thought "A Horse with no Name" was really about a guy in the desert with a horse as well. Guess I need to pay more attention to songs Ive heard a million times.

I never quite got Ode to Billy Joe. I always wondered what the story was supposed to be.

The narrator was Billy Joe's girlfriend, and the song is about her family's nonchalance when talking about the suicide at dinner and implies that they didn't know she and Billy Joe were an item.

All the time! I am not quite good at the nuisances in songs unless they are blatently obvious.

I haven't looked at the link yet but sometimes wonder if meanings aren't added after the fact and in reality, the original songwriter wasn't even thinking what got attached to it.

Then again, I'm just somewhat niave and oblivious to things too.

On another note, I am shocked about the Prince song I Would Die 4 U. I never knew and have probably heard the song 1000 times.
