Songs in VMK Signatures

I seen players have songs in their sig, like Bad Day Everytime we touch etc.
But the "Beep" song or another song is TOTALLY inapproirate. Hip-hop songs shouln't be allowed. I seen "What cha gonna do with all that junk all that junk inside that trunk? LOL" in it. Even Don't ya song was in there! Does anyone agree with me?

True they shiould be reading these sigs. I see "Lean wit it Rock wit it" a lot. That's a VERY inapropirate song for kids.

Sorry but I totally disagree. I myself have a song in my signature on VMK(Step by step, heart to heart, left right left, we all fall down, toy soldiers) as well as here on the DIS. The actual songs themselves may not be appropriate for all ages, however these parts of the songs are and the 1 on VMK actually goes along with my tribute to the troops rooms i have set up. Signatures are just that, something that represents who you are w/o giving out any kind of personal information. So therefore, if someone wants a song in there, as long as it is worded appropriately or a section of the song that isn't inappropriate for VMK, it should be allowed. (However your example of the My Humps song by the BEP's is kinda stretching what should be allowed and whoever has that part in their signature should change it).

Songs express who we are as a person, so why not put a song in your signature if it represents who you are??? To say that hip hop songs shouldn't be in there is discrimating. There are many country, rock, r and b songs that are just as "inappropriate", so if you say take 1 out you would have to include all of the others too.

I almost always have a lyric in my signature. I love it when people send me a note or tell me they know what it is - or better yet when they ask what it is - then they are learning something new. Of course - my lyrics are G rated.

I have to agree with Alien here...

If the lyric that is written into the signature is ok and doesn't violate the VMK values then it is fine- even if the song that it comes from doesn't...

Now I have seen some questionable song lyrics written into signatures and I suppose the best thing to do is to report those individuals with the reason of bad signature or something and leave it at that

But to ban all song lyrics because a few are bad is not right- that is sort of too much censorship- and really is best left up to individuals to make good decisions and the ones who do not make the good choices can be reported by others. Frankly- most who read some song lyrics that are skirting the line of good and bad- probably go way over the heads of younger players and those that do know what it means have probably heard the song many many times and aren't reading something new.

I agree with Alien completely. In fact...I almost feel as if I shouldn't post anything because it may sound redundant to his...(but considering I am from the Department of Redundancy Department, I suppose all is okay... lol)

Like Alien said...segments of songs may not reveal what the entire song is about and could represent how that person is...I know there are plenty of songs by Eminem that would most certainly be inappropriate for VMK, but the lyrics he has chosen work very well and are completely appropriate. Same with other songs...I am sure there are lyrics in "My Humps" that would be appropriate without thinking of the song as a whole. (Those particular lyrics...as Alien said, are some that could be changed lol)

To say this is your opinion...but I couldn't disagree more with that statement. And that is my opinion...to see what I think of this matter, read Alien's post lol(he really took the words right out of my mouth...although, he may have said them better than I could have lol)

Now, I don't have song lyrics in my signature...not because I don't want to, I just like putting in my own things...like right now I have, "(dis) Just nod and smile and pretend like I'm saying something smart." lol.

Have you listened to all rock and pop music? It doesn't matter the genre...songs will be inappropriate and others won't...it isn't just Hip-hop and rap.

I have had my song in my signature since I built my rooms back in December, and I have never had any warnings or requests to change it from Staff or any member of VMK. In fact, I have gotten many positive comments about it. So it has nothing to do with the songs themselves, however it does have to do with how people are using them.

My songs in both my signatures are rap/hip hop. I have also used several other hip hop songs in many signatures before. It is your own opinion that they should not be allowed and other music genres are ok, however in my opinion, hip hop is ok when used properly, and if it isn't ok, then neither are the other music genres because I can name several Pop and Rock songs that would "make a sailor blush." We are all entitled to our own opinions and I respect yours, but please in return respect mine.

Sexual innuendo can be included with so many words these days. Part of it has to do with the sex-addicted culture we dwell in. Part of it has to do with the Shakespeare esque "dictionary dancing" people enjoy. Shakespeare in alot of his work included many perverse references to sex that still misses or hits readers today. He used what many vmk'ers would call dictionary dancing. VMK should not block words which are rarely used for sexual reference. My biggest complaint with the game is the lack of words we can speak(another thread). Since VMK is both an MMO and a "kid-friendly" game, it should be up to us the user's to report any misconduct including signatures. The mods on VMK can not be everywhere at once nor should they try and curtail more words. It's been said that an MMO is only as good as the people who play it. If your upset about a signature, do something about it.

As for hip-hop songs, most of them are hardly "kid-friendly". Just because kids listen to the tracks doesnt excuse anything. However, hip-hop music is not the only genre with perverse lyrics. Any form of popular music has lyrics that discuss sex and violence in excessive detail.

Music lyrics(VMK safe) are regardless a good sig. A person's favorite music or lyrics can tell alot about them. I have a Pink Floyd lyric in my sig

i also agree. most hip hop songs are inapporiate. but i like a band called REnt every one at my house calls me RENT Freak. but i dont think i know any one else who knows rents song forward or backword like me anyways.

Rent is a showtune band they sing nice songs but they get stuck in your head all day. belive me i know. hahahaha lol

Anyway do you think could get me a signature that had one of there songs in it? there is a song called WILL I (LOSE MY DIGNITY?) OH sorry i was on caps. lol so the song is done now time for the name. i would like it to say BlueTinkerTinker. plz? privagte message me plz.
