Song of the South?

There are some SotS dvd's for sale on ebay. The sellers say they will play in american dvd players and do not have the japanese subtitles. There was also one that said Disneyland Paris on the label. They look official, but has anyone ever bought one of these from ebay and did it play?

We bought off of ebay and it works great!! We have had the DVD about 6 months and have watched it 2 or 3 times. We purchased it for around $20

I can see why Disney would not release it. True it's what part of our past was, but it is very degrating and racially stereotyping. Here's an example, Uncle Remus lives in a run down shack, no plumbing, etc. His "employer" is white and lives in a large white plantation with servants

It IS part of the past, it was how things were, Gone with the Wind has some very stereotypical parts too, but it's still a very popular movie. It's too late to make movies like Gone with the Wind and Song of the South PC, they are what they are. Besides I thought Uncle Remus was kind, smart and wise no matter what kind of house he lived in.

I could see the controversy if Disney made SOTS today, but that isn't the case. I always loved SOTS and would love to see it again. I hope they do re-release it.
