A few years ago Corey did a show that gave us the information we needed to find out more about the program. Thank you Corey for having provided that information and for frequently talking about your experiences in the College program on the Podcast. He is also a graphic design artist - and (of course) Disney fan. He would frequently listen to that show as inspiration and to hold onto his dream. I couldn't be more proud!

Thanks for the wishes. The email said "main entrance" Magic Kingdom - he's downloading the packet now for addition details

daughter 17, is going to do that also. when the time comes of course.

That is so exciting! I did the college program in 1991 and it was the true beginning of my love for Disney.
I worked in the Magic Kingdom parking lot- at first my friends all laughed at my job but by the end of the program everyone was jealous b/c I had a great tan and we enjoyed alot more "freedom" in the lot than you have if you are tied to a kiosk or attraction. I had a wonderful time, learned tons and made some of the best friends of my life.

Congratulations, how exciting. I did the program in fall 1996 and it is one of my all time favorite memories and experiences. So glad I did it and my only regret is that I didn't stay and try for an advanced internship.

one of my roomies got sucked in and still works there, 14 years later. (nope, never finished college). :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::cool1:

congrats!!! I did the CP Spring 2008 and then was accepted for a professional internship Fall 2008 and was given seasonal status after that. Sadly, I had to leave and find other employment because of the hiring freeze but I enjoyed every second of being there and wish I was still down there...the weather was pretty awesome too!!

My dad told me that he didn't care if I didnt' come home with any money but to make the most of my time down there and still pay rent, put gas in my car and eat. I can say I did sooo many things there I had never done before: parasailing, dinner shows, going to the spa, ate at all the restaurants in Epcot, etc. The discounts are pretty good as well!!!

Good luck to him!!

I think that happens to many of us!! I worked in the Spring of 96 and ended up staying on for 2 years. I did end up going back to school, but ended up moving back here after that.

Best of luck to your son! This was an experience of a lifetime!

I knew I could count on fellow DISers to share this excitement. Not everyone can appreciate Disney the way that myself and my family does. Thank you all for the good wishes. I'm learning so much more about this program just from reading these responses. I too want him to look back on this as a wonderful life experience. We've heard such good things............guess where I'll be spending Christmas?!

Congratulations. My daughter did the CP in 2008 and was on splash mountain she had a ball and will never forget the experience. We wondered if it would spoil it for her when we go on holiday but no she still cannot wait to go back.

My daughter is 15 1/2 and I would love to get the information for her.
Where is the best place to get information on what you need to do when the time comes?
......and
can I go with her?
maybe I should re-enrol in a college

Congratulations to your son... you should be very proud. Wishing him the best.

Also, the college boards here are full of info on it as well from those that are doing the program or 'auditioning'. :)

Woo hoo- Christmas at disney! Beware, you might not get to see your son much though if you go Christmas week itself. I swear i worked like 60 hours Christmas week, it is so busy, i didn't have one day off that week and had to work a ton of overtime. Getting time off during holidays and popular times (weekends) was hard for me being the lowest on the totem pole. I was able to trade shifts sometimes with manager's approval, but it was tough. It might be very different now and of course the individual work locations will vary on time off too. If you can go visit during a slower time, you will probably get more time with him, but see how things go with his location and boss. Never hurts to cozy up nicely to the boss too. :goodvibes:rotfl:

Congrats again!!!
