my son is currently running track and xc and University of Maryland, Baltimore County. For the first time ever the team won the east coast championship for xc. He was home for break for one day. After spending a long morning skateboarding, plus he runs 85 miles per week he was walking to the boardwalk to look at the waves. He walked down a 3 step flight of stairs, slipped on some ice, fell and broke his hand. He broke at least one bone that is very difficult to heal in the palm of his hand, probably a couple smaller fractures. He is ina full arm cast, including his thumb at a weird angle. He can't really run til the shorten the cast. The minimum time for the cast is 8-10 weeks but there's a good possibility of surgery. The dr. will look at the cat scan results today to decide if he needs to see a specialist.
My son is devastated. He's also in alot of pain. None of the scripts they give him are stopping it from being bad, and he has a really high pain tolerance. Plus he can't believe with all the stuff he does he got hurt walking down a few stairs. Keep him in your prayers.
Does anybody know anything about fracturing your scapula? I mean scaphoid.
