SOMK,anyone play?

On our second day at MK, DD and myself will be meeting some characters. I told DH that after he and DS ride the rides they ant maybe they should try the game. He read up on it, he thinks it sounds like something they would like. Who has played it? Should we order the deck and game board for home?

My son (10) has played it every trip for a few years now. Each one of you can get a free pack of cards, you just need to scan your bands, doesn't;t usually take too long. They have 2 locations one at the firehouse and one behind the xmas store. They explain how to play and there is also a tutorial video at the firehouse. We have also had people offer us their duplicate cards and gotten free cards that way. So, we try to pay it forward and do the same. There is also a shorter pirate game in Adventureland that is fun. We play last year during our 16 day trip. My DS8 loved it. We played through the whole first level but it took a long time(about 5 hours spread over 4 MK days) We are looking forward to playing the pirate game in adventureland on our upcoming trip.

SotMK is a lot of fun. It takes about 30 minutes to play a game, but it depends on how many other Guests are also playing.

In terms of the Home version of the game, it's not really anything like the in-park game. I had a hard time figuring out how the game is played. Overall, I didn't really find the Home game to be as much fun as the park game.

My DS 12 played it in January. LOVED IT!! We didn't go with any pre-planning (buying extra packs or game board). It is time-consuming, but it worked well for the boys to do during the early afternoon when ride lines were insane. I played the pirate treasure game and enjoyed that more - just because the Sorcerer's game involves more videos and I'm sick of video with 10 and 12-year old boys.
