I'm trying to be practical. As most of you know, I'm having gallbladder surgery on Friday. I'm not as young as I use to be
and I had a cardiac "event" after my last surgery 6 years ago. That was to remove my thyroid and while said event turned out NOT to be a heart attack, something certainly caught the doctors attention. When I came to I had a cardiologist sitting next to my bed. I don't know what happened but the current surgeon I have does as she has the records from that other operation.
So I just tried to talk to the husband about what I want if anything goes wrong. While he heard me, I don't know if he Heard me. KWIM? I'm going to write it all down and leave messages to my kids. I'm going to fill out the copy of the Living Will that I brought home from the hospital the other day. I want to make it as easy as possible should something go wrong.
Other than my concerns for the people in my family, my biggest hope is that people will step forward and adopt the cats that have graced my family. I can't bear the thought that anything would happen to them.
I don't mean to be depressing but this is something that really must be thought about any time you are operated on. While I don't have a Will (I know, bad girl!) the house is in both our names. Right now that's about the only asset I have.
What would you feel are the most important things you could do if your family suddenly had to face life without you?

As for your cardia 'event,' do you have some kind of bad effect from the anestsia(sp)? That can cause severe problems.
