Chris got a promotion to management today, which dont get me wrong is good, but hey heres the catch!

no three weeks in a row!

I could scream I just got everything sorted I am gutted, I am going to have to shorten to two weeks, but still the same place

only bonus is I get my upper class back

but seriously I obviously got what was coming to me didnt I

arrrggghhh

I know try to book around:-
School holidays, no out of school time
Hurricaines and bad weather
High costs of Tour operators in summer
My work time off and when they start to book it ot allow it.
My wifes work, only two weeks summer one week spring/autum one week other not Christmas or Easter.
Brouchures out with offers 18 months in advance all gone when school advises next years days off
Give up!

How bizarre, Anna. I have worked in management for a number of years and I have never had such an arbitrary ruling put on my annual leave.

In fact, I have to say it has become easier for me to book the leave I want as I am no longer competing with lots of others in the "leave diary".

Guess I must just be lucky.

Anna ~ I wouldn't be too bummed just yet. It has been my experience that the people in Management do tend to be able to take longer holidays. Taking the odd day, here or there or an occasional long weekend can prove harder that an extended trip.

I dont know if its because he is the only one of the certain job he does, that it cant be so long.

Its some sort of package that they have given him, he does get more holidays, just doesnt seem to be at the same time, and he is guaranteed christmas off, which I guess is nice

I should have known something was happening when he had meetings after work till 8pm

I must be lucky too as I always get my holidays. I saw this as at least one of the perks :)

Think it must be Anna ~ Strange that it is written down that he cannot get longer holidays but is guaranteed Christmas off.

Have to agree it is strange - although Gary's company had this rule - no one was allowed more than 2 weeks of in a row. We had to even get special "permission" from his line manager for his wedding!

I always thought that most organisations would honour holidays that were already booked :confused3

I think he gets christmas because hes and engineer and the places he goes to, shut down alot of christmas

ah well

Though we are presently not speaking lol, I have managed to re arrange the flights and didnt get charged due to explaining and I am in the process of changing the hotels

Anna, please would you be so kind as to let me know the name of whoever you are speaking to at Virgin. In my experience, Virgin nearly always charge for the slightest little change so I would really like to be able to deal with whoever it is that is being so generous with you, in the future ;)

It was a lady called louise, I believe, and before that the only people who charged me were the indian call centre

maybe I didnt get charged as I upgraded back to upper at the same time?

It's good that you didn't get charged whatever the reason. I hope nothing else happens to mess up your plans :)

I wont hold me breath lol

Serves me right, should have just behaved with my planning

My DH is only permitted a maximum of 12 holiday days in one period. This has upset the apple cart as far as our 3 week trip next year goes, so it's back to the drawing board, especially since we are doing this trip with friends, it's their first time and they will be going for 3 weeks.

Because I work in school and due to DH's work can't go Easter or Xmas, it's got to be during the summer holidays, so we're stuffed price and time wise :sad2:

Just seen your post, Anna (bit behind this week). Great news about Chris' promotion, not so much about the holiday re-arranging. Pleased that you have been able to change your plans without getting charged, fingers crossed for you that this is the last change :wizard:

Anna - but what would you do all day if you weren't amending holiday bookings? :confused3 ;)

Great news about the promotion though :thumbsup2
