Something Unique to do at WDW

My husband and I go to WDW every year, at least once. I've been there literally hundreds of times. I want to do something different. Any ideas? We did the Keys Tour last year and we've eaten almost everywhere. This will hopefully be our last trip without children (we're trying to start a family). Anyone got ideas?????? All are welcome.

If you have not done it, the Backstage Magic Tour is really worthwhile.

We just got back from spending two weeks in September and did two really cool things.
We went on Breathless, which is the 1940s replica of the Chris Craft teakwood speedboat.
It is docked over at Beach and Yacht.

It was something like $23 (total, not per person) for ten minutes. It was really neat. You tool around in the water bewtween Beach and Yacht Club and Boardwalk, then you go out by the Swan and Dolphin and head towards MGM and play around out there and then they took us into the World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT (HOW COOL IS THAT?).

The boat holds something like 6 people.

The other thing we did was parasailing. You take off behind Contemporary Resort. Much more expensive. It was $81 for ten minutes (per person) at 450 feet. If you went tandem it was cheaper. The neatest thing about parasailing is you are up high enough, you can see everything. Sicne you are so close to MK, you could see the Castle, Fantasyland, Mickeys Toontown and Tomorrowland. Not sure if you could see any of the other lands. You could see Fort Wilderness, EPCOT, Spaceship Earth, Swan and the Dolphin. My husband said he could see TOT, but I did not.

All prices are with some type of discount, AP, DVC or Disney Visa.
Breathless was the highlight of my husband's trip, parasailing was mine.

I would highly recommend either of these, if not both.

I don't go higher than the second step on the ladder.

I think the cut off is somewhere between 300 and 350 for a tandem flight.

Maybe if the two of you went up together.

I completely forgot about the Safari Tour. We wanted to do that last year but we did Keys instead which was more than worth it (Incredible if anyone is giving it thought!) I think we might go with the Safari, we're absolute animal lovers!

The Breathless is out for refurbishment with no return date listed. I just called WDW-PLAY to arrange for a sleigh ride in December and asked about it.

However, I can recommend the carriage ride. You can get it at several locations, including Fort Wilderness, SSR, and Port Orleans. Call WDW-PLAY for more information.

The carriage ride sounds really romantic. Maybe I will look into that too. I never knew about WDW Play. I love this web site.

What I like about the carriage ride (and the sleigh ride) is you can bring your own refreshments with you, and yes, it can be a bottle of wine if that's your choice. When we did the sleigh ride a couple of years ago, it was so cold that we took hot chocolate as our beverage.

Just back and did the "Key's to the Kingdom" tour. It's a five hour walking tour including lunch - well worth it.

And the Segway Tour at Epcot. It was a 2 hour tour where you get to ride segways around the World Showcase before it opens to the public.
This tour was fun and excellent!

I just made a reservation for the Animal Kingdom Tour and I'm soooooo excited!!!! I can't wait. Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I'm also going to look into the carriage ride as a surprise. I highly recommend the Lunch with an Imagineer. It's a chance to hear lots of behind-the-scenes information, ask any of your Disney questions, and enjoy a fabulous meal while you're at it.

And I second the Segway Tour - very, very fun!

Just call Disney Dining and they'll set it up.

The meal is in a private room at the Brown Derby, and it is limited to a maximum of eight people, so you have lots of opportunities to ask your questions. You get a nametag at the beginning and a special commemorative plate at the end, autographed by your Imagineer.

A week from today we will be on a plane to WDW. Staying for 10 days at the Wilderness Lodge. My brother, sister-in-law and their 2 beautiful girls are going to be there for part of our trip too! We're so excited. Every day my husband and I send emails to each other at work saying we can't wait. I'm so excited to smell Disney popcorn and the hotel air conditioning (I'm strange). I also can't wait to feel the warmth of the air. We keep counting down like kids at Christmas!

How do I do lunch with an Imagineer?

Just call the regular Dining Line 407-WDW-DINE to make reservations 30-days in advance. It's a great experience that I recommend highly. You'll be in the private Bamboo Room in the back of the Brown Derby with a group of 8.

We second and third the Lunch with an Imagineer - had the most wonderful lunch with Steve Grant at the Brown Derby - fantastic!!! We only had 1 other couple with us and learned so much about MGM - it was a wonderful experience!! Caroline
