After buying so many boxes of Rice Krispies for the free Disney Pins I've finally found a way to use them up. We will be going to DW in Oct. so I bought a Mickey Mouse cookie cutter from the Laughing Place. I'm going to make rice krispie treats, cut them out with the cookie cutter. Then dip the front in chocolate and place a Edible Disney Decal on the chocolate. I just recieved my decals in the mail last week and can't wait to try them out. It will be great treats for the park and late night snacks. The decals are $1.85 for (20) from Mission flour tortillas. The info is on the package along with the address and you have to also send in (1) UPC code from the package. The offer is good until Oct. 15, 2005, but have noticed they have already removed the info from their website. I think it's been deleted because it was promoting a kids cooking contest and the contest has since expired.

Where those the same Disney pins that were offered in the battery package?

Has the offer for the pins in the Rice Krispies discontinued,or is it still going on?

Great idea for the Rice Krispies treats. I noticed them all over Disney this summer :teeth:

I just bought a box of rice krispies last night. $1.66 at my local store. Finding cereal at that price is amazing...and I didn't even notice the Disney pin info until I was standing at checkout.

WARNING! Years ago, when our family went down to WDW, my little brother made some treats for everyone. However, due to the hot sun, they melted and refirmed into an amorphous blob thing! Still tasted good though!

If you don't have decals...shape a Mickey triangle (3 small balls pressed flat together, bottom ball larger than the two on top) and just dip the ears in chocolate. It looks like a mouseketeer hat on a face then...I've seen that done at Disney with their (pricy) Mickey rice crispie treats and it is sooo cute!

BTW...thanks for the info on the decals...I am going to try to get some.

Yes, same ones

Has the offer for the pins in the Rice Krispies discontinued,or is it still going on? Yes, it's still going on. Was only able to find the rice krispies yesterday at Wal-mart. All the other boxes had the wobblers in them.

Ozymoe

Great idea! Thanks for the tip!!

Thanks for the great idea! I wont bring those to the park but that will be a great treat for the classes when we come back from our cruise. :)

Yes...Rice Krispie treats do melt! We had blobs instead of trefoil shaped ones at a Brownie picnic last year.

But if they are just the plain ones (no chocolate)...they aren't too messy...and it doesn't change the taste one bit! Just have everyone pull off a piece to munch!!! :rotfl:

PS...I know how to make cute little bunnies (just to eat...or with which to decorate cakes) using only large marshmallows and a sharp scissors!

Lol...any of you ever done this...or made marshmallow taffy? I was strongly admonished when I taught a friend's children to make marshmallow taffy (mine did it all the time when they were small).

Evidently it is a little known secret that if you start tearing at a large marshmallow (and then adding 1 or 2 more marshmallows* if wanted) using just your 2 thumbs and your two index fingers (sorry, it's so easily demonstrated, but it's hard to explain when written down) pulling and then putting it back together and pulling it again...it turns into "taffy"...not unlike that which holds Mickey Mouse rice crispie treats together...and is absolutely delicious eaten off ones fingers (especially if you are 4 or 5 or 10...or 56 lol) having made it.

This was a huge slumber party hit at out house, but then we are warped! lol It IS imperative to only use the 2 fingers (plus thumbs) I mentioned or your children may end up temporarily taffy impaired, in which case the federal government gets involved...because of course there is now a rule insuring no child is left behind...stuck to a surface from which they cannot remove themselves...

Oh, yes...I am a wicked, wicked grandmother! (except that my children know how much fun they had doing this!)

* or is the plural of marshmallow...mashmalli? marshmallae? marshmalloo?

Hey Kelleigh1, I'm also from Mass. the south shore. Any chance you found those on the south shore?

Actually they are different. There are 6 different battery pins, all of them feature different characters and Disney locations and they are actually in the battery packages. The cereal pin has Goofy, Mickey and Donald in the Tea Cup ride on a Mickey head shaped pin. You need 3 certificates for one pin and you can mail them in or trade them at several loctions including DTD Pin Traders.

okay , so i knwo that rice krispy treats are like the easiest things ever to make, but everytime I make them and try to use the cookie cutter to get them into cute little shapes, they never turn out right..they are too sticky or not formed correctly. Any ideas..??

Thanks.

Spray the cookie cutter with Pam spray or coat with oil. That's what I have done in the past. Make sure they are cool first.
Is the finger taffy for real??????? Sounds intriging.

Here is the description of the 5 pins that come in the energizer battery packages.

In the front of the package is a pin. There are 5 in all. There's a small fold-out brochure in the package that shows all 5 pins with a description of each.
