We are getting off a cruise, and will have one day, no car. Our hotel is near the airport since our flight is very early (will need to be up by 04:00).

Is there anything fun to do near the airport which we may have missed in our Disney/Universal exclusivity? Some attraction (no aquariums, or sea parks, please), which we haven't seen?

Thanks for thinking of us, anyway. I guess we'll do a disembarkation tour, and hang at the hotel after that.

Yea, sorry. I was also thinking that you could do Kennedy Space Center, I am not sure if there is a shuttle that runs from there back to the airport area hotels or not though. I'm sure you could get a cab, but that may be a little pricy.

My little guy likes to go to the airport and watch the planes take off and land. You could take your hotel shuttle to the airport and go to the rooftop terminal parking and do that maybe?

Actually, disembarkation tour I was thinking of goes to the space centre. :thumbsup2 It looks after our luggage, and then drops us off at the airport. The hotel has a shuttle that can pick us up from there.

And, the hotel has a nice pool and lounge, and a Sonny's within walking distance.

Nice, sounds like that may be your best option! Plenty of good restaurants within walking distance right in that area where your hotel is located too. I think you've got a good plan.

A 1-way car rental (compare drop-off fees) is probably the cheapest option and the one which affords you maximum flexibility.

If you reconsider your plans, Here is what you can do in the area if you get a 1-way car rental instead of a shuttle:

1. Brevard Zoo
2. A 2-hour boat ride on the Indian River Lagoon with Island Boat Lines http://www.islandboatlines.com/Home_Page.php
3. An airboat ride at Lone Cabbage Fish Camp http://www.twisterairboatrides.com/

4. Ron Jon's Surf Shop (for looking or buying)
5. Kennedy Space Center

The rental car would have a place to store your luggage and, depending on the number of people in your party, could very well be cheaper.
