Something old, Something new, Something Borrowed, Something Blue!

Did everyone do this? I thought it would be fun to see what everyone used, plus I need some ideas:idea:. So far I only have something blue,( my necklace that my DFi used to trick me at my engagement.) Post pics if you have them!!

Something old - my dad, no just kidding! ;) My great aunt's wedding ring that I'll wear on my right hand .

Something new - Practically everything else that I'm wearing.

Something borrowed - I have not a clue:eek:

Something blue - my pearl bracelet that I'm wearing has a blue topaz in it. :thumbsup2

New-My dress, shoes, etc.
Blue-My Sash, Criney,
Old-I'm looking for an star pendant to put on the back of my dress.
Borrowed-I'm not sure yet. I may rent a necklace.

Something Old: Necklace and earrings I actually wore for my senior prom- I never thought I'd be wearing them on my wedding day!!
Something New: Dress, shoes, gloves,
Something Borrowed: Still working on that one
Something Blue: wearing a clip with peacock feathers in my hair (our wedding is peacock themed!)

Something old: Not sure, I have an old ring that my grandmother gave me years ago that I might wear on my right hand

Something new: Dress, shoes, veil, etc.

Something borrowed: Not sure, I think my mom has some diamond stud earrings that she might let me borrow :confused3

Something blue: My bouquet and engagement ring

Something Old: My 100 year old diamond and sapphire ring that I inherited

Something New: My earrings and bracelet. I was VERY particular that my something new be something that I would wear again, so my dress wouldn't count

Something Borrowed: I had 2 - my Godmother's handkerchief that I carried with my bouquet, and my DMIL's brooch which I pinned under my gown

Something Blue: My garter

my something old and borrowed was my paternal grandmother's crystal necklace..it is 80+ years old and was VERY heavy

Something old: Diamond earring (which I only have 1 of b/c I lost the mate) that my dad gave me when I was little- sewn into the hem of my dress.
Something New: I had enough "new" things- dress, shoes, jewelry...
Something Borrowed: My dad's wedding band that was attached to my bouquet.
Something Blue: Crystal horseshoe on my garter.

:goodvibes

my mother had her pearls and my grandmothers necklace..My dress had both pearls and crystals but I thought since the pearls on the dress stood out more, the crystals would be a better necklace.
The necklace was very short...I lost a lot of weight in the year before the wedding and I was able to wear it..I never would have been able to hook the clasp 12 months before!!

i too wore my dad's wedding band..it is mine and I wore it on my thumb..I am so glad the photographer got this shot

It no longer fits on my thumb and I can't have it sized due to the engraving..so I wear it on a chain

That's Awesome you were able to wear your dad's ring. What can I say- My dad had really big fingers... when I tried it on my thumb that morning it flew off and ended up halfway across the room!:scared1: Needless to say, there was no way I was gonna risk losing it. It belongs to my mom and then will go to my brother, but my brother wore it on his wedding day and I wanted to "wear" it on mine. I do have a shot of it that I too am really glad I have:

It was pinned in the loop and I was able to hold my bouquet while "wearing" the ring. I also have a pic of my something blue that I didn't post:

Something Old: My grandmothers necklace and braclet.

Something New: My dress, shoes, crinnie, veil

Something Borrowed: Sixpence

Something Blue: Blue undies! :rotfl:

i wore it on my thumb since he died..but when I lost all the weight, it got loose..if you look, you can see the tape wrapped around the ring..but a few months ago, the tape kept getting bigger and it looked tacky..so I got a nice chain to wear it on. His ring came off in a restaurant one time and for the 10 seconds while we looked for it, I was in full panic attack

I didn't have something blue for our VR, but the day of our actual ceremony, I had a blue handkerchief of my husbands! My borrowed for our actual wedding was our daughters charm bracelet

My dress does have a pale blue label..when I saw it, I wondered if they did that for "something blue"

I would be in full panic attack too!! That's wonderful that you have it and had a piece of him with you at your vow renewal and always. I like the necklace-- my mom did that back when my dad first passed away-- it's a nice touch. :cloud9:

(and yes, I'd say a blue label counts as a "something blue!" :thumbsup2)

I'm doing my old new borrowed blue with my jewelery....

Old...
The very first piece of jewelery DF ever bought me were diamond earrings. They're small, and actually I hardly wear them because they slip through my first holes, so I'm always worried about loosing them. But I have 5 holes in each ear still open, so I figured I could wear them in the 2nd holes, and they'd be a sentimental old.

sorry the picture is so blurry, I really need a new camera.

New...
Necklace and 1st hole earrings

Borrowed...
Though I haven't figured out exactly which one yet, I will be borrowing a ring or a bracelet from my mom to wear.

Blue...

Crappy picture, I know. It is 3 small diamond flowers, the side two are blue diamonds, the middle is white diamonds.

not a dis bride, but a sucker for weddings!!!

old- a beautiful pink hankie from an old family friend in england- received it as a little girl
new- my wedding day purse
borrowed- my moh's diamond studs(still have them! oops!)
blue- we married the year after titanic came out, avon produced a knock off, thah was my soemthing blue!

i also had 2 garters, one in hunter green to throw and one fancy lace one to keep!

Something Old: Mother's Ring, which also has blue, since two of my daughters are born in September. Also, I bought my petticoat off ebay, so it has been used before.

Something New: My dress, headpiece, veil, necklace, earrings... should I go on?

Something Borrowed: This is a hard one... I will most likely ask to borrow a piece of jewelry from someone, probably something I can put in my bouquet.

Something Blue: I am making a Chicago Cubs garter, and also a throw garter. Also... I have blue topaz necklaces for my bridesmaids to wear. I don't know if that counts though, lol.

I think we should all start a "borrowing" thread. LOL... where you "borrow" something then pass it on to the next bride.
