We are heading down again this October for our annual WDW trip. We wanted to mix things up a little bit, and maybe try something different. we are planning a more relaxing vacation this time, DW & DD want more pool time, which means I may get a round or two of golf in!!! We have tickets for MNSSHP which we always enjoy, and are figuring out what day to hit the F&W Fest. But, we are looking to try something new - any suggestions? Wondering what other people do that might not be park related, something we have missed in our travels to WDW. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Thanks,
Eric

On our last trip we did mini-golf for the first time at WDW. :thumbsup2

Another long time favorite is going over to FW and touring around. Visits to the horse barn and depending on the time of the year checking out any decorations the campers have up. It's a relaxing place to just wander around and check out everything.

Segway tour at Ft. Wilderness! Or a horseback ride.... Or both:). I also enjoyed one of the AK tours I took a few years back, but I can't remember the name of it. There's so much to do at Disney that we try to do something new each trip, either something none of us have done, or something the kids haven't done. For our next trip, DH gets to experience F&W and we are both participating in our first RunDisney 1/2 marathon.

Here are a couple of suggestions:

1. Have dinner at the campgrounds and then walking around and seeing how the guests there decorate their camp sites. We were amazed! They were fantastic. Then you can also go see the animals and go to the stables where they have the horses used in the parades. Stop at Crocket's for a relaxing drink on the porch in a rocking chair!
2. Take a backstage tour - especially Keys to the Kingdom.
3. Take one of the fishing trips. Guaranteed to catch fish! Or rent a mouseboat.
4. Stay away from F&W on the weekend. Crowds start around 4 and get crazy as the day goes on. Monday through Thursday if you get to WS around 12 you can walk up to any booth to purchase food/wine/beer. You could also book one of the special events that will take place. Some are not that expensive.
5. Mini-golf
6. The night of MNSSHP, book dinner at one of the MK resorts. Explore the resort and then take a boat over to MK instead of the monorail. Great pictures from the water.
7. DTD with shopping and lunch or dinner. DD might really like House of Blues and then Cirque.

There are so many different things that you can do. We always try something new every trip even if it is a restaurant we have tried yet or one we really loved. Great time of year to go. :cheer2:

We try to do a different back stage tour each trip. If not that..at least something special. Great suggestions so far. This year we are doing Victoria and Albert's Queen Victoria room dressed in formal wear...including DD and DS!

The last time we played mini golf at Winter Summerland we got 50% off as AP holders. Did you play there and do you happen to know if that discount is still available? I was thinking of going there again on our next trip.

Yes they still had that! :thumbsup2

Take a day trip to Daytona Beach where you can drive your car right on the beach.

We had a great day at Disney Quest. We were there when it opened and stayed for about 4 hours. We all had a good time and it was not overcrowded early in the day.

Speed boat rental!! Best hour of my last vacation :-)

:thumbsup2
Or rent a pontoon at the Contemporary and do the "figure 8" around 7 Seas (for a nice view of the monorail resorts) and drive over the water bridge to Bay Lake (and glance at River Country and Discovery Island). I made that tour in a bit less than an hour, and there was a nice AP discount. While we didn't need the full size of the pontoon, we wound up glad we had more shaded seating than the smaller boat at the same price.
