Something kinda weird just happened.

I was playing with my fiancé tonight and something weird happened to her. She was trading with someone and VMK Red (I think without the “_”) entered the trade window. I know that staff can do that but that is not the weird part. Red came out and said that she was in “big trouble”. She was confused and red said that she had been reported by many people about not being nice and cheating. She was thinking the reason was because everyone was wanting free stuff etc… Red said you should give advice to these people. She was not mean to the people and offered small things but they only wanted rare items. She never even traded any items to anyone except me. Red left the trade window and this is where it becomes strange. For about 45 sec. to a minute she continued to chat with the person she was trading with. Once that happened yavn (with a lowercase “y”… I can’t remember if he has a little or big Y in the game) entered and said that she was being banned. He said sorry and the trade window closed. It is about 2 hours later and she has still not been banned. Also there she never got any warning about being reported. I was just wandering if something like this has happened to anyone before or something weird is going on (like if someone could hack into trade windows). Just seeing what you all think…

It was a VERY mean joke. By pressing a certain button (I have forgotten which), you can type an name and what you want this false person to say. It would look like this:
-Actual User Name Here-:Hi
yavn: You are being banned.

Now if the other person was not speaking while red and yavn supposedly entered, I do not know what happened. What the actual user says can be blank, also.

Well, if I am right, they could have used this forgotten button several times to lower it more. Some good evidence for the fake person is the lack of the "_" in Red's name. If your fiance remembers the traders name, you may want to report the trader for staff impersonation.

Thanks. I hope that is all it was. She can still log in no problem. I wish we would have taken that name and reported. I think because this happened in a trade and that there were no warnings or ban right after you are right. Thanks. Very cruel joke!

Its a scam for sure! they will come right to you if you deserve a warning... or they will ban you without warning if thats what they deem the appropriate punishment is.

If you remember the name like shaymojack said report it. they can review the logs and they have 0 tolerance for staff impersonation! Send as much info as you can as they will need proof in order to take action otherwise the person will get with it.

I would say even if you don't remember the name of the person but remember the time at least that would help them narrow down the trade transcripts to take action against the person anyway. Any info you can provide to them will help these scams stop.

Yes, report it through contact us. Try to be specific to the time the conversation happened. I am sure they are able to track when a trade, even if nothing transacted, occurred. What a really sick joke!

I would hate to see a newer player scammed by thinking Staff is talking to them this way.

This scam is very rampant right now, I am thinking they are hoping that the person being "banned" will give them all their stuff because they figure they are losing it anyway.

This is not taken lightly by staff and the perpetrators should receive a permanent ban for these actions.

Shame on them!

I know this certain button but I wont say it. By using the button you can say what you are saying, your friend is saying and maybe even make a staff say something in that trade window. These are all scam attempts.

That's mean did you report them it could have been a prank staff does not just say stuff like that and besides they are not even allowed to trade with other players. Seriously that's scary this is why I don't trade I've heard about this before on other sites. But how can you even hack into vmk what the heck lol.

Just to clarify something- VMK staff will never talk to you while you are already trading with someone else, but they will request a trade if they want to talk to you in private. So if VMK_Red requests a trade with you and talks to you, don't start screaming "Scammer!" at her.
