I am now a member new home at SSR and although I have not even seen my new home or the inside of any DVC resort my DW and I have been to WDW now 15 years stay mostly in moderate hotels CR Poly AKL etc, going only once maybe twice a year, we live in AL 10 hr drive never fly. So it works for us 150 points is all we should ever need and seeing that we have not seen the DVC resorts inside , I dont have a view on any resort as of yet, I got a DVC club vidieo in the mail called a agent, learned I would save money over the years get to try out other resorts pool hop valet park get discounts on many things. Never once has it ever crossed my mine to rent points or try to make money get into the discussions of good or bad. We just plain love WDW and IN 15 yrs we have not ever had a bad time , (really) After reading all the threads there sure are alot of unhappy people here LOL I just wonder why so many people just cant be a kid again and enjoy the vacations they have bought, I dont have a ressie untill 2005 but some of you guys scare me to death LOL after reading I dont know if Ill be able to pool hop valet park one person says its a matter of time before many perks are gone one says never. I read its takes 15 min to walk to the main pool at SSR ont guy says 5 min from the same place could be long legs.I love this board you guys are great but us new people sure can get confused lol
Thanks for all the help but I guess somtimes you just got to see for yourself.

LOL...Welcome to the DIS boards..LOL. Welcome Home...LOL :Pinkbounc

WELCOME!

Here is what I have learned being on these boards. You can read people's bad experiences and take them into consideration to be on the lookout for the same issues, but there are more posts praising DVC resorts than not. Not everyone is going to have the same problems. One thing I DO notice, is the big complainers seem to LOOK for things to be wrong. I take those posts with a grain of salt.

I have been a DVC member since Oct. 2002. We have taken 2 DVC trips since and a 3rd is 103 days away. Unless it is something that is really hindering my vacation experience, you will not see a compaint post from me. Carpets get stained, light bulbs blow out, and sometimes, housekeeping does not pull out the 200lb sleep sofa to clean under it.

I truly believe life is what you make of it. Honestly, I am so thrilled to be at WDW when I am there, I do not SEE anything in a bad light. I am in a unit NICER than my own house....what is there to complain about? LOL

Welcome Home...LOL

And I bet ducks wearing sailors suits with no pants on can make you guys smile too! ;)

well, me too. And I couldn't agree more with each of you!:earsboy:

Hi - I am from Ala too....

Nice to see another person from Al....

this is a very opinionnate group of people....

I really think you will love your new resort. It is beautiful - too fancy for my taste - but hey everyone is different. DVC appeals to a whole lot of folks because each and every DVC resort is different.

I have been a member since 93 - no regrets!!! love it!!!!

Congratulations!!! Welcome Home!!!!

You said it perfect I dont think I would ever post a bad experience either, I also look at the good side of everything I am 42 but feel like 18 in my mind lol Love Disney even better now.

Weclome home!

You gotta put this thread into perspective... Everyone reading these forums are Disney fans... Anyone seriously considering DVC has gotta be a Disney nut case... and anyone who actually forks over $10,000's for 40-50 years of pre-paid Disney vacations is a certified Disney lunatic...

Now. What you read on this forum are the minute details...ie. a microscopic analysis of a "tree in a forest". It's something to talk about...complain about...agrue over... enjoy.

But overall, the DVC satisfaction rating as measured on this board is VERY high. :sunny: You're in good company.

I agree with you. I generally take the complaining threads with a grain of salt. The longer you are on here, the more you will come to know the folks who are sort of..."complainers"...for whom nothing is ever good enough, or the folks who expect their entire vacation free because they were missing a towel from their unit when they checked in! If there is a post about something negative, I try to read it with an eye to "hmmm, that's interesting" and I also try to look at the reaction of the poster to the problem. If it's an appropriate reaction (ie-they forget to refrigerate your perishable purchases so you expect replacement cost), that type of post holds more water with me.

I will tell you that DH and I have been members since 1997. We bought a 200 point OKW contract then. In 2002, we bought another 230 point OKW contract. I can say, without a doubt, and DH will "second" me, that the DVC is some of the best money we have ever spent. We have had nothing but enjoyable vacations in what we consider to be excellent accomodations. The DVC has allowed us to change the way we vacation, we no longer have the feeling that we have to "commando" tour, because we KNOW we'll be back. Those times when we have had minor problems or inconveniences, they have been handled quickly and professionally and to our satisfaction each and every time. I would cut back on my lifestyle in other areas in order to keep the DVC...that is how muchI enjoy it.

Use these boards for the info they impart...some of the members are very well-versed in the "workings" of the DVC, but don't get too nuts over the negatives.

:bounce: Welcome Home!:bounce:

Yes, we are passionate about DVC, and even those who complain still love it there. But you know what happens when $$ is involved...DH and DW argue about $$ all the time, it doesn't mean they don't love each other or that they regret marrying--well, DVC is the same thing;)

LOL!!! Famous last words. ;) Welcome home. As a WDW regular I think you've made a terrific choice.

You're just the type of person I worry about when we get into the "nitpick" discussions here on the board. Individual trips may have problems. Individuals may find something about a resort they can't stand. Overall, the resorts are fabulous and you'll need to make your own decisions.

Sometimes people will go on about how big OKW is and how it's impossible to get around. I had never thought of it as "big" and I love walking around the resort since it's so pretty. If it gets too hot, I hop on a bus and cut a few minutes off my trip. I've never found a walk to be more than 15 minutes tops, even without the bus. Now, others seem to be overwhelmed and can't fathom walking around OKW. Same with BWV -- some people are overwhelmed by the length of the hallways, others don't even notice.

Look forward to rating them all yourself! Just like the resort board has different views and experiences about the WDW resorts, you'll find the same here.

We love our trips it is the only place we go to other than the cottage that we forget about what is happening in the world around us. I do not go to a room looking for things to complain about mind you there seem to be some that do this. I look at it this way I have a bed to sleep in and I am at the place I most want to be for holidays so what more do you need honestly.

I'm with you all the way! You seem to have a great attitude so I know you are going to love your DVC.

I can't wait to try them all.

IMHO, I disagree with this very strongly! :p :p :p

Hi Huff

When I drive onto the Disney Highway, going under the Purple Signs, I feel so excited and I become a kid again.

As I approach the security gate of Old Key West, and I show them my reservation, I salute them as I drive past, with the largest grin.

But the best part comes when I hear the cast members say those two words "WELCOME HOME" !

I have crossed over into Disney Magic.

Then I open the Pastel Front Door to the Villa at Old Key West and I hear or say the same thing: "I wish I could live here".

I wake up, watching the golfers, and just smile as the coffee brews.

I also try to keep the magic at its peak by trying to visit the Magic Kingdom at non peak times, early admission days, and to exit the park early before the crowds take over the park and just move onto EPCOT for dining that day. I have noticed that the kids are just as happy in the pool or Typhoon Lagoon, rather than being subjected to exhausting overcrowded Park Days.

I always feel bad for the kids exhausted in their strollers, while their parents insist on spending every moment of an exhausting 12 hour park day during peak seaons crowds !

I welcome all the tips I can take in here to make the visit as enjoyable as possible. Never hurts to learn and listen, even to the mistakes or problems the Dis Members share.

Unfortunately when I get home, the Disney Mood fades, and then I have to dream of future trips again.

Some day I will go somewhere else besides Disney or the Beach !

Phil

Keep posting Huff, it's meant in good fun. You'll love your DVC vacations. We get pretty demanding with high standards around here sometimes, doesn't mean we don't love DVC.
